I enjoyed the hour I spent here just flipping through Sonorama's vast selection. The posters and flyers on the wall and the vintage magazines, tape cassettes, and CDs for sale give me the impression that this store has some history. The guy working the counter had some excellent music playing (e.g., Usurabi). Unfortunately, none of it was for sale. What was for sale was slightly overpriced in my opinion; however, I did manage to walk out with an unexpected find that was shockingly underpriced. Sometimes you just gotta keep looking. I highly recommend coming to Rue Bernard, as there are several record shops along this strip. Happy to support Sonorama Disques again.
When it comes to world music, not just rock or alternative, this space is one of the best in Montreal. Sure, vinyl can sometimes be expensive, but when it comes to the selection of Japanese music and press, Near Eastern funk and jazz, etc., the cost is a thousand times worth it, because it's the kind of stuff you can't find anywhere else.
