Geisinger Specialty Clinics Wilkes Barre

Came here as a student & did rotations on the overnight hospitalist team and also another rotation in labor and delivery. I enjoyed my experience here compared to Wilkesbarre general hospital. Everyone swears by the deliciousness of the smoothie bar (I personally never got it tho). Beware this is trauma center so the ED can be very chaotic at times with long waits for beds but they get to you eventually based on the severity & level of care needed to make you feel better. The labor and delivery ward here is the really good compared to the others I've been to; it also has a Nicu for babies. (But if I had to choose a place to deliver, Geisinger CMC in Scranton labor and delivery is so much nicer but better suited for moms with uncomplicated pregnancies as they don't have a NICU.) My main downside to coming here was how far away the parking lot was & can be challenging to find a closer spot. But to help they do have shuttles that runs till about 4am & can pick you up and take up to the front of the hospital.

This is for the Labor and Delivery unit: I was placed on bedrest and was in the hospital from Christmas even to Jan 15th and let me tell you. The nurses were the absolute best! They made me feel comfortable and welcomed, they brought me so much to help occupy my time, a mini fridge to stock food from family bc no likes hospital food. At one point I was cleared to walk a little and they used to take me on walks outside and inside to get me out of the room and not go stir crazy. I felt very well cared for and safe. So very thankful for all of the staff and doctors during my very long stay until I had my baby boy. I can't say enough good things about everyone on this unit

If you are from this area one you know the area sucks for just about everything but for healthcare Geisinger is really the only ones I trust. I have a medical problems since birth and my first major spine surgery at six months old. So I know bad healthcare. Geisinger is one of the more advanced in technology, they are really staying up with advancements both medically and technologically for their patients. They are non profit so if you can't pay they have many options so you are still able to obtain great care. They have their app where you have your medical record right at your fingertips and have direct access to your providers. They are living up to their motto "Better care Easy!"
