“I was not expecting my annual appointment to be $80 when I walked in that morning. It’s usually a $20 copay but was told that there would be another charge for retinal scanning. I was told the charge could be up to $59 depending on my insurance. In the past I was able to opt out but it’s mandatory now no matter the age of the patient. After paying this charge last week I’ll have to pay it again for both of my children who have annual appointments this week. The good news is children are $25 for the scan. I wish this was still optional.”
