UPMC Shadyside Family Health Center is a caring and professional medical facility with a team of experienced doctors and staff. Dr. Hawkes is known for his caring attitude and dedication to his patients, often going above and beyond. Dr. Jessica Goddard and other doctors like Dr. Sobecki and Dr. Richards are also praised for their professionalism and skill. The center offers a supportive environment, especially for those feeling nervous, with staff who practice trauma-informed care and are committed to rehabilitation and treatment. Overall, the facility provides a positive experience, with many patients feeling cared for and supported by knowledgeable providers and a compassionate team.
The clinical staff has been rather excellent to my opinion, but customer service, scheduling, and response times have gone downhill. After waiting to hear back from staff for a week on a minor prescription refill without so much as a callback, I’m not sure about recommending the practice for regular patient care.
Easy to get an appointment and if you dont care who sees you, you can get a same day appointment. Staff is friendly and welcoming. Only issue is this is a teaching PCP office. Meaning, people are going their residency here. So, if you get a new resident, they would be your PCP for about 3-4 years, then you will have to start over with a new PCP at this office. If they are a 3rd year resident when you are assigned to them, you will have to get someone new in a year. I have chronic health issues, so I was allowed to get an attending, who is a fellow and isnt a resident. Hope that makes sense.
