This is the ONLY Ashtanga Yoga studio in the Pittsburgh area. I love all the teachers. This studio's offerings not only include traditional ashtanga classes but different types of classes for 'EVERY BODY'. They also offer a number of different workshops/series. If you are looking for strength, flexibility and calm. This is the stop to make!
No better place to learn, grow or hone your yoga than the Shala! The teachers at the Shala are well-versed in Ashtanga, as well as other styles, including Iyengar, and have many years of experience and learning with some of the best. Can't recommend the Shala enough! The physical space is clean, bright and calming, and the community is welcoming. I've been practicing ashtanga with Becky, the owner, for more than 10 years and it has changed my life. No more neck/shoulder/wrist pain is just the beginning. Becky's approach to ashtanga starts with curiosity and self-compassion. She focuses on the actions and not the results, but always makes it challenging enough to keep you interested, no matter how strong/flexible you are (or aren't). Working through difficult postures on the mat has made me more compassionate, patient and calm off the mat. I highly recommend this studio.
