This has to be one of if not THE worst gym in the city. It's changed hands from Ballys to La Fitness and now an Esportq. The only thing it has going for it is the location and parking...it's only La Fitness / Esporta in South Philly area. The machines are the same old machines from when it was Bally's in 2010 or earlier. There's always a handful of machines where the cables are broken and have a sign "scheduled for service"...scheduled for when? Was just talking to a fellow patron about how bad it is and we both "reminisced" how 1 of 2 leg extension machines have been "scheduled" for 2+ years. I then went around and counted at least 5 machines that are out of service. And good luck reading any of the weight stickers on the machines...barely legible on most machines. In addition, there's only TWO 5 lb weight plates in the entire gym. Locker room is gross with half the time paper towels aren't available. The floor mats in the weigh area are crumbling apart in places. Seriously? When will ownership finally put some money into this location and turn it around.

I'll give them two stars for being a gym that is open in the area. Aside from that, this place isn't great. The mask mandate isn't enforced and they don't require vaccination cards. The weights are rarely racked, requiring you to search. The floor around the free weights has rubber matting on it and there are dips/gaps you can't see which makes carrying weights to/around the benches dangerous. The staff is friendly, I just don't think there are enough to keep up with the gym maintenance.

I am a member of LA Fitness but have been reluctant to go back to the gym because of COVID-19. Now that I am vaccinated+boosted, I stopped in today (now called Esporta) and was horrified. Although the door signs clearly said that masks were required at all times in the gym, NO ONE was wearing a mask on the main exercise floor: not in the boxing ring, not on the machines. The woman at the desk had a mask, but was wearing it improperly, her nose completely exposed. People were walking into the gym without masks and she didn't stop them. I told her I would not be back. Perhaps a relaxation of a mask mandate might be OK if they asked for proof of vaccination. But they are NOT asking for proof of vaccination.

Recently joined this gym because I wanted more options for equipment. The staff is outgoing and friendly. Some of the reviews noted concerns with the equipment and they're right. Some of the machines/cardio equipment do need some maintenance but I get a solid workout every time. This gym also has a sauna, changing room and showers.

This gym needs a major update. Old equipment, some of the machines you can’t even adjust the seat position. I remember when it was Bally‘s and the equipment and weights are still the same.

It's the worst of its kind. Out of date. Broken equipment. One manager who sits in the office, white guy isn't good. Just if you have another option go somewhere else.I go here because it's on my way to work

This is by far the worst gym I have ever signed up for: *There are two 5 lb weights in the entire gym. *Staff clearly doesn't care *Dumbell weights are all over the place *Multiple machines broken and have been for months *Can't find clips anywhere *Several benches won't adjust *The gym is very unsanitary The only reason I've stayed here is for proximity. I'm moving closer to center city and could not be happier to be switching gyms.

Employee was 20 minutes late which means that me and other paying gym members had to stand outside for 20 minutes waiting for the gym to open.Employee does not enforce mask policy equally and picks and chooses who to harass about it. There were multiple people without masks on and he tells one person to wear a mask. The gym equipment is broken for a long period of time and they don't fix it. They also allow ripped equipment to be used which could lead to a skin infection.

Equipment is always broken and weights are so worn out you can’t see how much weight you are doing on the machines. There is no air conditioning in the summer.
