Frederick W. Oster Fine Violins is unlike any violin shop I've ever visited. Walking through the doors feels more like entering a museum than a store. The multiple floors and beautifully arranged rooms are filled with an extraordinary collection of historic instruments from around the world, making the entire visit an experience in itself.
The selection is simply amazing, whether you're interested in fine antique violins or exceptional modern instruments. Every room offers something unique, and it's easy to spend hours admiring the craftsmanship and history behind the collection.

Got my violin here about four months ago now. Not only were they incredibly helpful when I was choosing my instrument, but they were very welcoming and understanding when it came to my family’s financial situation. Sam was incredibly kind and she helped me pick out my instrument by providing an informed opinion and playing each instrument. The shop is also incredibly beautiful and the acoustics were fantastic to play and hear each instrument in. They gave me one of the coolest and special experiences that I will ever have, and I can’t recommend this place enough. If you’re from or visiting the Philly area, come here!
Bought a violin for my boy for his 13th bday, Sam was amazing. She was so patient and knowledgeable, we took 5 hrs to pick this thing out as we flew up from Florida and Sam and Frederick Oster were both extremely helpful and gave us the just right guidance on our big purchase. If we ever upgrade or add another I’ll be flying up again! We had an amazing time, my boy says it’s going to be a “core memory’” lol Thank you to both of them if they read this review!
