I could not recommend Matt more. I’m in the best shape of my life because of him. Before I started working with Matt, I had consistent lower back pain and stiffness for over five years and would reliably throw my back out at least once a year. After working with Matt, I’ve completely resolved my back issues and can deadlift over 300 lbs (something I never thought I could do)!

Matt genuinely cares that I get the most out of my workouts and that I’m using proper lifting form to stay safe. I have far more confidence in the gym because I know Matt has put real thought into each session to make sure I’m progressing without risking injury.

I'm 72, and have been working with Matt since 2020. He prepared me for a 260 mile solo hike on the John Muir Trial, and a Nepal trek to Ama Dablam base camp at 16,000 feet. Amazingly, I had no physical issues or pain on either of these which I attribute in large part to Matt's knowledge and training regimen. Recommend Matt highly for staying fit and being able to undertake challenging adventures even if we are not millenials!

This review is long, long, long overdue. I trained with Matt for several years at both 12th Street Gym and at Optimal Gym (13th/Walnut location). Here is my feedback based upon my personal experience training with Matt. I found Matt to be an excellent trainer. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced. Matt spent considerable time understanding my objectives with training, as well as any limitations/injuries. He built workout plans that focused on my individual needs. He was always careful to ensure that I was using proper form to avoid injury. I felt that I made considerable progress towards my objectives/improved physical condition as a result of my training...read full review
