3 years waiting on a bike build, large deposit, no updates no communication,.. is just downright ridiculous

We have a titanium tandem that developed a crack in one of the head tube welds. Bilenky did a really nice weld repair, the total process took less than 3 weeks. I would highly recommend them for Ti frame repairs.

I was calling non stop all day and they never answered, my calls kept going straight to voicemail.

Stephen built a frame for me back in 2000/2001. I’ve had many bikes over the years, including other custom frames before and since, but this is the one I always went back to ride. To the point where I have downsized my fleet to just this one bike. It’s had a number of different components on it over the years and is a joy to ride.

I recently had Bilenky repaint a Ritchey Road Logic frame that had a defective finish. They did a fantastic job in every respect for a reasonable price. I doubt there is another Road Logic that looks as good as this. Their attention to detail is first-class. Bilenky also makes some beautiful custom bikes. Strongly recommended.

Sent a frame there almost four months ago to get repaired and I've just been getting the runaround since then.
    Not happy.

Took a while, but it was worth it. A Scott Paisley frame with a two color fade and front derailleur braze-on by Bilenky Cycle Works.

After contacting 5 other places, Bilenky was the only shop that would repair my custom titanium road frame. Relatively quick, about 5 weeks from me sending it out to getting it back. I haven't built it back, so unsure at this point the quality of the repair, but it looks good. Was recommended by a Merlin owner who had similar weld fail a couple of years ago. His bike continues to operate fine.

For more than a decade here in Philadelphia, TROPHY BIKES has sold and serviced the world's best folder bikes: BROMPTONS. We ran into an unusual issue with a Brompton Superlight fork, damaged by overtightening, and a "cone expander" stem design which Brompton has since changed into a more conventional/reliable wedge style. YES, we had a replacement fork in stock at Trophy - but the stem was also slightly damaged and a new one would have to come from England. Would it be possible to get it repaired locally, at one of the best frame builders in the U.S.? Like everyone else, we'd read the wordy (and kind of whiny!) slams against Bilenky Cycle Works - long waits, disorganization, and other hallmarks of the "artiste" small shop. We did note that all these Yelp complaints were over a decade old, yet still highlighted up top because, frankly, YELP sucks and wants small bizes to pay them to launder their reps. We're in the bike world, too, and have endured our fair share of mega-entitled folks, eager to use web-reviews to carry out vendettas. SO ... we showed the damaged stem to Steve Bilenky. He estimated 6 weeks (which seemed all-too-optimistic when I saw the bikes in progress at his, er, full frame shop.) We said OK, because his labor quote was less costly than a new stem, AND it would keep the matching (British Racing Green) color (Brompton frame replacement parts are only in Black, generally), AND Brompton UK could not guarantee when stems would be restocked. 1) Bilenky Cycle Works completed the repair in two weeks. 2) Steve ignored our (non-expert) advice to just restore the stem, and instead upgraded it to the wedge design as currently used by Brompton. This eliminated the possibility of future damage to the new fork steerer tube. 3) When we examined the repaired stem, we could not detect the slightest trace of the original cracks. It was as new. 4) The stem / fork fit together perfectly and a decade-old Brompton Superlight is back on the road again for its delighted owner. Philadelphia has long been known as the WORKSHOP OF THE WORLD, and there are still some extraordinary artisans carrying on that handwork tradition. (Philly Typewriter, Liberty Bellows, Michie Violins, etc.) Bilenky is firmly within that tradition, and they are a tremendous asset to the cycling community. - mcget

Paid Bilenky $300 in the summer of 2022 as a deposit for a custom Bicycle fork. Basically left him alone, and checked-in every 6 to 8 months to ask for a progress report. Most of the time got no response, and got a few "we've been swamped and we'll cut tubes and start your fork in two weeks" Finally - today Dec 2nd 2024 (well over 2 years later) - after feeling the need to promise to camp-out and refuse to leave until I was handed either the fork I ordered / or a refund, I was finally issued a refund. (The kicker is the value of the $300 is so much less 2.5 years later - but that's simply irony, Bilenky doesn't control inflation - but backburning a customer for 2 years, he can own that.) If THIS is the customer service experience you're after? To be shown zero respect, made a low priority, placed on the back burner for 2.5 years, only to be given a refund and nothing to show for it other than lost time you'll never get back? Bilenky Cycle Works Inc is the place for you.
