“I hired Ryan to primarily plant some new trees along my property line to add to the natural landscape “fencing” for eventual additional privacy, and to replace several ornamental trees that had expired and were front and center to the curb appeal of my home. From the start Ryans communication was top notch. He continuously updated me when he would be on site, provided a reasonable email quote for work to be performed, along with his proof of insurance/contractor license and then after hiring demonstrated care for the existing property. Biggest surprise was he uses matting that stops the rutting in of my existing lawn where his bobcat/excavator would travel. This worked so good in fact, I was cutting the grass the following day and you would think he planted these 400 pound 7’ spruces by hand with no signs of heavy equipment sinking in. He listened to my requests for the trees I wanted, to match the existing decade plus old ones both in color and species of pine. “Jordan and his entire team were professional and did exceptional work. We had new construction and our back yard wasn't in a great state. The soil wasn't great quality, the grass wasn't coming in, and it was not well graded. Our yard was pocketed and muddy.

We had a large plan to re-grade, add a deck and fence, and some large planting beds. Steel city was very flexible and got us in early to do the grading portion before the deck/fence went in and was able to come by later in the year to do the plantings.

Every part of the result is excellent. Our yard is much more usable, and the beds they added are beautiful. Several times I have been in our back yard and had people walking by comment on how great it looks and ask who did it. We will definitely be using them for future work and recommending them to any who needs landscaping work.

10/3 followup: By the end of the summer, a few of the arborvitae they planted had died. It was a brutal summer with record highs and almost no rain, so no surprise there. Steel City replaced them for free and somehow managed to do so without harming any of the many flowers and other plantings surrounding them. We also had them come and do aeration/overseeding/topdressing for our front yard (which was pretty barren). Just a week and a half later, it is absolutely lush.“

“The folks at Terra Green are very good people to deal with. They listened to our concerns for improving the landscape around our home and were very patient in dealing with changes and money concerns. They were quick to answer questions and concerns even though we made some changes to their recommendations and went over their design several times.

We had hardscape work done initially including the installation of new steps on one side of our home and a garbage enclosure on the other side. We split work over a couple of years to better handle finances and the hardscape was the first work completed.

We also chose to eliminate some of our grass areas because they were difficult to maintain and to keep out weeds. Their design recommendation was to use stone of various kinds in several locations. The installation of a new lawn and garden area was the last part of the work. Though we had some issues they were quick to resolve them. For example, some plants that were installed did not thrive and they replaced some and will replace others in 2025. The front lawn was installed but the grass did not grow or grow only in spots and they replanted.

We hired them because they are listed on the Phipps Conservatory Landcare list. We are also impressed that they are recognized as the Small Business of the Year by the University of Pittsburgh as well as recognized for their sustainable designs and products. Though they are small, they provide excellent service.“

“Anthony and his crew did a great job of pruning, trimming, and cutting a huge, old, half dead Silver Maple in our back yard. We had perfect weather for December, so don’t think it’s too late to complete your project this year, or winter.If it’s not windy, and the conditions are safe, see if he can fit you in. That’s what he did for me after a quick call last week for an estimate. I called him Wednesday morning, he called me back Wednesday evening, then Friday he gave me an estimate, and at that time I told him I could also use some cord wood to burn in outdoor fire pit. Sunday he delivered wood, then Monday morning he arrived with his crew to tackle the old, big Maple. The enormous tree was partially hanging over the street, and a neighbors yard, next to a fence in the back of my yard. It was interesting to watch them handle a difficult task with efficiency and precision, and at the same time be careful and respectful of our yard, the street and the neighbors. Anthony and his people do a great clean up when done also.I would definitely recommend Anthony and his crew for quick response, fair pricing, great communication, and professional work.In fact in the next few weeks I’m going to use him again for maintenance and gravel for the driveway, and in the spring for a project of a Privacy fence and landscaping.Give this local, small family business a chance/opportunity to help you start and finish some tree trimming/removal, cord wood delivery, driveway gravel, or a future landscaping project you need help with!“
