I really love the pool & I also love the class that they have on Mon, Wed, & Fri. at 1:30-2:30 pm. However swimming on the weekends have become very Unpleasant. The worst times to be Sat. from 1pm-4pm & Sun. from 12pm-4pm. It seems that some of the parents of teenagers think this more like an outside park, where they drop the kids off & when the kids pass their swim test, they go over to the sitting area & spend time on their phones. I remember when I was young ( 1960-1980) when going to the pool was a family fun time, even if you could swim, my parents still came into the pool with us or if they were out, we knew that they were watching us to make sure we behaved. I went to the pool on Sunday around 2 pm & while I was getting ready to go into the pool these 2 teenage boys took their swim test & past it, then the dad went over to the table & got on his phone. While I was trying to get into the pool the boys were around the steps splashing each other & others around them, just being BRATS! The teenage lifeguard on duty & the Father did NOTHING to stop them. After about 1/2 hour I was there the kids moved to the deep end & the Father picked up his bag & left the pool, leaving these 2 Brats unattended. The lifeguard's job is not to Babysit your children but to be there for the safety of the swimmers. About another hour later some kids came & were swimming with the other 2 kids, who had a parent watching them & they stayed at the deep end. The father came back about 2 hours later. This has happened before but this Sunday was the WORST. I pay to go swimming just like everyone else & I try very hard not to get in anyone's way. I was also taught at a young age to Respect my elders, which from what I can see of lately the kids of today aren't being taught anymore. Now I have no problem being splashed in the pool but not while I am trying to get into the pool & when there are younger kids in the shallow end. If they want to do Crap like that, DO IT AWAY FROM OTHER SWIMMERS. Some people act as if this is their private pool & need to read the Pool Rules. I am hoping when the summer pools open it will get better. I really love swimming here & I love the people who work here but it is some who are ruining it for others. I would not be surprise if these 2 teens end up in some kind of youth detention. My personal opinion is that the kids of today just aren't getting the parent supervision that they should be getting.
