Today I googled "kids yoga" and came across West End Yoga's website. I was impressed their class schedule was up to date online and noticed they were offering $5 drop in classes for kids. My daughter has been going through issues and has ADHD. I thought yoga would help her relax and take a moment. We headed on down and we're warmly greeted by Alicen. She advised since it was our first clas or was free and said she doesn't usually teach the kids class but I'm so happy she did because she has a psychology background! We happened to visit on Halloween when neighborhood children were trick or treating and not in class. My daughter and I had a literal one-on-one experience and it was truly a form of therapy to her. She divulged her issues to Alicen and she was so kind and gentle offering her encouragement and advice. We did not know Alicen's background and she didn't divulge it to us... I found out from their website. I truly believe this all unfolded the way it did for a reason, and I'm so thankful. We will be returning and recommending to all.

I began to get into yoga many years ago, and stopped practicing it due to some health issues, which kind of resulted in me not doing it at all for a while until I recovered. I'm still very much in recovery, but my old yearning for the practice began to itch at me again when I began to undergo a very difficult time in my life. I had mentioned this to a friend and she strongly encouraged me to start doing yoga again because it gets energy moving in your body, and is cleansing for the spirit. I mainly wanted to do it for the physical benefits, so I decided to come in today to West End Yoga because it's the closest studio to me. Needless to say, the entire experience was incredibly relieving and cathartic. Feeling my body--which I've abused so many times before with rigorous diets and painful practices of self-harm--move through the motions and transgress from one pose to another rather awkwardly but altogether gracefully was such a poignant and important progress for me. The basics of breathing and moving are surprisingly visceral and liberating. I was stunned when, at the end of the session, tears randomly began to spill from my eyes. The entire experience definitely moved everything in me and brought stuff to the surface, and I believe that is the power of quieting the mind. The instructor was very gentle and supportive. I got major chills when we closed with the "ohm". This is my go-to spot now, and it helps that it's literally 5 minutes from my home. I even left my yoga mat there for future visits. I'm sold.

I have been to many yoga studios and have experimented with various types of practice. However, I had never heard of Ashtanga before purchasing a month of unlimited classes at LV Yoga Studio. I LOVE IT. I'm sure it is not for everyone, but the teachers of Ashtanga are extremely knowledgable and explain the practice and movements very well. This is THE place in the valley to learn Ashtanga. I have went to classes recently at other locations who offer this style of yoga and it was not the same experience. I don't plan on stopping anytime soon! I would strongly recommend giving it a try! Also, the owner, Jacque is very helpful and always quick to respond.
