Dr. Mariah Frank is a million times better than a prior pelvic floor physical therapist who I had made zero progress with. I came to Sound Body--and Mariah--as a “high complexity” case. I was discouraged, defeated, shamed, and hostile toward the entire PT process, and told Mariah this right up front. Mariah immediately validated and encouraged me without question or judgement. They accepted where I was at and we moved on from there. They showed me how important the exercises, and biofeedback, were to my healing and overall wellbeing. They went at my speed and yet challenged me to push myself. They patiently taught me how all the muscle groups, and my breathing, work together. They are a problem solver; nothing came up, from head to toe, that they didn’t know how to address on the spot. They set clear goals and expectations from the beginning so I knew where I was headed. They taught me that I have way more control over how my body works and feels than I ever realized in my 63 years. Under their guidance, we worked against significant emotional damage to make lasting physical progress. Once I “graduate,” I know I’ll be on the road to better fitness and I’ll understand how to get there and maintain! I will forever be grateful for my time under Mariah’s care. (And, begrudgingly, the doctors who pushed me back into physical therapy when I did NOT want to try again.) I have the utmost respect for Dr. Mariah Frank. I will return to them if I ever need more help in the future, and I cannot recommend Dr. Frank highly enough!

Dorothy identified the root cause of back problems I had had for decades. Previously they were sometimes treated when problems became acute, but never before was the root problem identified and dealt with. ...my back only stays fixed when I continue with her prescribed exercises!! I would rather have someone who would give me a single pill and fix me permanently. Lots of Luck. ;) Please tell me if you can find such person. In the meantime, you might consider doing what she says and feel better like I do, when I do maintain her regimen. At the moment my back is giving me hell, but I am too embarrassed to admit to her that I slacked off on my exercises. In all seriousness, she is most knowledgeable, intuitive, able to sort out root causes that actually may not originate where the symptoms feel most acute. She is also a good coach. It is true I am her father and parents tend to be proud of any accomplishment. But parents also know about spots on their kids. I first went elsewhere in Portland for physical therapy. I honestly had no idea of how effective a healer she is until I became her patient. I have also since heard glowing reports from others, including from her former supervisors before she opened her own practice.
