The OHSU Bariatric Surgery Clinic, South Waterfront, provides caring and efficient healthcare. One patient, who was in a car accident, received acupuncture treatment from Dr. Colin Gold and found it to be the turning point in their healing journey. The doctor took the time to listen to the patient's needs and made them feel seen and heard, resulting in a noticeable improvement in mobility and pain relief after just one visit. Another patient had a positive experience with Dr. Barr and her team in the MHOS clinic. They were reassured and kept informed throughout the process, and even had the opportunity to meet and learn from doctors in residence. Overall, the clinic offers great care with a focus on both technical skill and emotional support. While some departments may need to work on their interpersonal skills, the majority of the staff went out of their way to help and encourage patients, making them feel heard and cared for.
My doctor placed a referral to this bariatric program several months ago. I received an email with a required seminar & paperwork regarding my health history. I completed the seminar, filled out the paperwork, printed it, & mailed it in.
When I called to schedule my consultation, I was told they had no record of receiving my paperwork. Fine. I filled everything out again, mailed it again, & called back about two weeks later.
At that point, I was told Julia, who I assume handles scheduling, was in a meeting & would call me back when she was done. She never did.

Treat patients like unwanted visitors. Breast cancer center oncologist - for our 15 minute session to discuss my Stage III tumors, lymph nodes, prognosis and treatment, she did not bother to acquaint herself with my case. When I asked about the cancer's spread to my pectoral muscle, she said, "oh, is it? I have so many patients." " She pulled out a piece of lined yellow notebook paper from her pocket to see if she had scribbled that on her cheat sheet. "Renowned" scientist lmao.

Review for OHSU Emergency ======================== My girlfriend had hip surgery at OHSU. Pre and post op were fantastic. But about one week later she was told to go to emergency due to the possibility of a blood clot. Although she went in reasonably quickly for a leg ultra sound, the wait for test results and further tests left us waiting for over 10 hours. Worst of all is that they refused to provide any means for her to be able to lay down and raise her leg. She was willing to lie on the floor if necessary. What kind of emergency room keeps a hip replacement surgery patient sitting for that long? Her leg got so swollen her compression socks wouldn't stay up. I was afraid her visit to emergency would become the cause of a clot instead of the solution.
