I met with Jonathan for 4 sessions and then transitioned into the Legends program, which I'm super happy about. Jonathan was a terrific coach for the private sessions and I could not have been more pleased! I learned the basic carries and movements safely, with a lot of gentle coaching. It was easy to learn how to adjust my positions by watching Jonathan - he has set me up for success with my weight lifting goals!!

Let me preface this by saying that I am an experienced CrossFit athlete. I am not world -class (or even state- or city-class) by ANY means or stretch of the imagination, but I have more than a decade of CrossFit experience, understand the movements, and most importantly, how to scale and de-load.
Due to my schedule, I need an early morning class, and these guys offered a 5am. However, you CANNOT sign up for classes unless you buy a $499 “onboard” package including personal training and nutrition. When I balked, they discounted it to $299. But they would not just let me pay their monthly fee and come to classes. I get the psychology of making people spend money up front because then they’re more likely to stick with it, but requiring several hundred dollars just for the privilege of paying the monthly fee and taking group classes is wild.

I have been going to Woodslawn small group strength training for about 18 months. I really appreciate the conscientious coaching. One of the things I’m most excited about is the improvement in my lunges. Even though I have been active my entire life, lunges have always been my least favorite thing. When I started I really couldn’t do a proper lunge. Now I’m knocking out weighted lunges, no problem. I was even able to complete my first Hyrox in February and I knew going into it the lunges were a non-issue.

I sure do enjoy working out at Woodslawn Fitness. It has been almost three years now and I look forward to many more. You couldn't ask for a nicer group of people than the good folks at Woodslawn. Everyone is welcoming and supportive. The coaches are experienced and knowledgeable. Their instruction emphasizes correct form and safety. Workouts can be easily tailored to suit each person's needs. The facility is comfy and clean and well-stocked with an array of weights and exercise equipment. I'm glad to have Woodslawn Fitness in my neighborhood.

I was introduced to this gym about two years ago…. To be honest, I was incredibly skeptical, as I was not only new to the gym world but also so intimidated…. This place is so wonderful, welcoming, and knowledgeable. You are part of the family the moment you walk in, and they continue to support you, wherever you are in your journey! Thank you Woodslawn! Woodslawn Fitness took me in before I was pregnant, looked after me throughout 7.5 months of pregnancy and welcomed me back like no time had passed once I finally had the energy to get into the gym! I love the small group training - we hype each other up every session - and Coach Anna does an amazing job pushing everyone individually to be the best version of themselves each day.

I’ve been working out with the team at Woodslawn for the last 5 years. The values of the gym shine through from the ownership to the trainers. I started my fitness journey in rough shape with physio therapy from Tyler. Over time I was able to progress past some of my limitations. Always supported through my limitations to keep moving forward in some capacity. Even in cycles of physical setback they find a way to keep me winning. Anna and Tyler have created work outs for me that have drastically helped me cope with chronic pain, functional strength, stability and a better mental attitude. I love and respect this team. I love training at this gym! I work with Coach Jonathan in the small group training sessions, and it’s been awesome. Each class focuses on a different body part in segments, so with just two sessions a week, we’re able to cover both arms and legs — super efficient and effective.
One of the things I appreciate most is the flexibility. If I ever miss a class, it’s easy to jump into another session and make it up. All of the coaches are incredibly nice, supportive, and knowledgeable. They always provide helpful feedback on form and offer suggestions that push you to get stronger while staying safe. I feel challenged, motivated, and supported every time I walk in. Highly recommend!
