Lovely class with an exceptional teacher! Spiritual teaching woven into practice, which deepened the experience.

I have taken many yoga classes throughout my life, Integral Yoga (NYC & LA), Bikram (NYC & LA), Kripalo Yoga and gym Yoga-cize classes but none can hold a candle to the precise instructions and care given to each student in the classes given at Iyengar Yoga of Bend. The instructor, Nadine Sims explains the reason behind each yoga pose, the mechanics of the body and the muscles which need to be engaged in order to maximize benefits and to prevent possible injuries. I highly recommend Iyengar Yoga to everyone.

This is a beautiful, centrally located studio with extremely skilled instructors! When I leave one of Nadine's classes I come away having learned something either about my body, a pose, or the philosophy of yoga. I strongly encourage this studio for anyone looking to grow their practice in a welcoming, supportive environment. Whether you've been practicing for years, or have never taken a yoga class, Iyengar Yoga of Bend has the right class and proper equipment for your practice.

Integrity is the single would I would use to describe the studio and the instruction offered by Nadine. Thankfully, though, I can use a few more words to encourage others to try the Iyengar method of yoga. This studio has a strong focus on developing proper form in each pose and building strength to gradually and skillfully advance. It's an honest practice that invites everyone to start with whatever experience or limitation one has. You would never go to a beginner class and be expected to do advanced poses at this studio. In comparison to studios where there is loud music or vigorous flow sequences this practice is certainly more subtle and measured. Something I think many 40+ folks really value. The real challenge isn't whether one can accomplish the most advanced poses but how one can bring precision and depth to even the most basic poses. Consistent practice is the key and the benefits will keep you coming back. Even if you have years of experience, come to Iyengar with a beginners mindset. Consider that this approach will gradually expand your understanding and provide you with a solid foundation. If you have back pains or other injuries, don't hesitate. There are modifications for every pose to accommodate injuries or stiffness. I was able to say goodbye to my chiropractor after only one month of regular practice! I've tried several studios in Bend and find that Iyengar Yoga of Bend offers the greatest reward. On a final note: Don't let the location fool you - the studio has beautiful lighting and mountain views!

I have been attending Iyengar Yoga of Bend for several years. I wish I had started earlier. Prior to finding IYOB I hated yoga! I was frustrated and embarrassed by the fact that due to my inflexibility, I couldn't come close to doing the poses. Iyengar yoga is unique in that the use of props is encouraged. This allows the student to receive the benefit of the pose, without risk of injury. Also, unlike at other yoga studios I tried, the instructor keeps a close eye on the students & provides individual feedback to ensure they are doing the pose correctly (again, to increase benefit & avoid injury). The benefits from yoga go beyond the mere physical poses, and I have received benefits far beyond being able to touch my toes! I strongly encourage others to try this yoga studio.

I've tried other yoga classes and studios, but I've only stuck with Iyengar Yoga of Bend (IYB). In other classes I felt like I was just going through the motions, but with IYB I feel like I am really learning how to do the postures correctly, and what a difference that makes! The instructor provides a lot of individualized attention and this has really helped me to make progress. My strength, flexibility and balance have all improved. The classes are challenging and I always feel like I have gotten a good work-out. It's a mental work-out, too, as you really have to concentrate. What makes the difference is that Iyengar instructors are rigorously trained and follow an established curriculum. I trust my instructor and because of that I am willing to try -and succeed! - at things I never thought I could do!
