“I travel often for work. And whenever I need a haircut…it could feel like a gamble. New city, new hands, unfamiliar rhythm. Sometimes it’s a great haircut. And other times, I end up wearing a hat for two weeks until I get back home to my usual.

I had some time before my flight to Amsterdam and found Nero Grooming Club during my walk on my last day in Toronto. I was half-thinking about the next leg of my trip and half-worried about finding someone who could handle my thick, wavy curls without turning it into a regret. This salon couldn’t seat me right away, but they had an appointment 45 minutes later. Enough time for coffee, a croissant, and a small reset.

When I came back, I met Niusha. She was warm without pretense and curious without being intrusive. The kind of person who talks to you like you’re a human being, not a transaction. We talked about Latin dance and where we come from. I soon felt I could trust her with my hair.

Niusha was precise, attentive, unhurried. And she did a great job of listening. I showed her a couple of photos of how I style my hair, and with that she gave me something clean, sharp, and right.

She also treated me to a lush paraffin wax hand treatment (definitely want this again, highly recommended). My haircut ended with a proper scalp massage + a hot towel that made the whole thing feel almost ceremonial.

They care about details here: the cleanliness, the care, the intention behind each step. By the time I walked out, I wasn’t just better groomed. I felt reset.

“I walked in for a beard trim with about 90 seconds heads up. They were kind enough to accommodate. Nice guys. Great with their blades. Chill vibe. No complaints. Also, very reasonably priced! Would definitely go again.“
