“My avoidance of review writing is almost pathological so the fact that I'm writing this is a testament to how much I appreciate Travis, the care he puts into his work, and the space he's created.The shop is a little haircutting oasis - aesthetically pleasing and intimate with two barber chairs. My cuts are never rushed. They come out consistently well, grow out well (sometimes too well), and even make me feel at home in my body. Sometimes I even hoot in celebration when we're done - I just can't contain the feeling.Travis's depth of hair knowledge also makes it easy to experiment. He's helped me understand what looks may or may not work for me based on my features, hair type, my own preferences, etc.If you seek further affirmation, here's another story: years ago, I had grown my hair out and wanted to have it cut for donation. I needed to find someone I could trust for the job and remembered Travis. It had been 7 years since the last time a barber cut my hair. I found Travis and he handled each section with care. The hair was successfully donated and, to my surprise, I received a thank you card in the mail from what looked like a happy recipient. They were wearing a wig perhaps made entirely or mostly from what looked like my own hair.So yes, I would recommend you visit the Ugly Barber (even if it means I have to book further ahead). Go ahead - see for yourself“
