Amazing experience both times I went, both times to take out old braids. Filiss is absolutely awesome and takes time and care with my hair and her prices are very reasonable. Would recommend!

Movita, previous owner, had washed, trimed and styled my hair. Given that throughout winter nothing was being done to nurture my hair. I expected her to take a long time to bring it back to health. Took her an hour and a half and she only charged me $130 for everything. Loving the hairstyle, so glad I have a trusted hairstylist. The store is currently under new ownership, her name is Phyllis. Love how Movita knows how to never add too much heat, just tge right amount. My hair always comes out looking healthy and natural.

I thought long and hard about writing this review bc i hate to put a damper on a business truly, but I decided i must if only to save someone else the trouble. If you want to baby and be careful with your natural hair, please go somewhere else. I went in for simple conrows no extensions with my hair already stretched and semi blowdried at home and it was blowdried again with super high heat- again just for basic conrows no extensions. Why? Only God knows
I tried my best not to freak out during the service because the young lady did turn the heat down after the first few minutes when i felt some burning at the nape of my neck. I thought ok crisis averted, she might still be learning and crossed my fingers. I was hoping for the best... and even tipped at the end.
Dear reader the best did not in fact occur. I have heat damage all over. My hair is definitely not as tightly coiled as before. I am so sad this happened to me- bc the location is convenient and its apparently been there for many years- an institution if you will . But if your natural hair means anything to you, please, please please think twice or when you go, SPEAK UP tell them NO heat at all. To be on the extra cautious side, bring your own heat protectant- which I did not notice being used in hindsight.
Its still baffling to me that I wasn't even getting a straightening service and i still got this much heat damage. 4C hair might SEEM like the toughest but it actually very sensitive and requires much tenderness. I very much regret that i did not receive that kind of experience. I hope this does not happen to anyone else in the future bc its not a good feeling for your hair not to bounce back as you're used to.
I hope this will be a reminder for the stylists to be more careful or get more training on how to use heat in the future.

My experience at Movita’s Hair Attraction was so delightful! The best salon experience for an affordable rate! I appreciate that Steffany took the time to explain the process of what she was doing as well as the products that were being used in my hair. She answered all of my questions and calmed any worries I had. I also added a brow tint service, I was nervous about as I don’t trust many with my eyebrows but Steffany did her thing!! I left feeling confident!

Terrible experience. I was a customer for years, I have gone back to color my hair. I didn’t bother asking for pricing from the start because I know the place l, I know the owner so I didn’t feel like I had to. But when my hair was done this hairdresser tried to charge me $450. Yes that’s right, 400 hundred and 50 dollars. Unbelievable. But apparently because I’m a regular she said she will make it 380. Unbelievable. She charged me for Higlights that I didn’t ask for she charged me for treatment that I also didn’t ask for (50$) . Boy oh boy what a scam this lady is, and the owner (Movita) didn’t even bother when I complained and just walked away. If you ever go to this establishment ask for the pricing first or don’t even bother going there at all. I arrived at 11 and I left at 5. 6 hours and $300+ later. I’m never going back. Save your time and your money and go to Jane and finch or Yorkgate mall for better service and Less money

LET ME TELL YOU!!!! i went here twice to do my hair. First time was horrendous, i asked for a BLOWOUT and tell me why she pulled out a straightener and curling iron. The spanish women don't know enough english to know what a blowout was???? Me being the patient customer i was, i stayed calm and allowed her to do the job, but as i mentioned to them it would, the straight hair only lasted about 30 min when i stepped outside. ill link a picture. NOW THE SECOND TIME.....i decided to go in only for a brow waxing, but i go on vacation in 2 days so i decided to do large braids for my hair. i will link a photo of the braids i requested, which wasn't the issue, Christiana was AMAZING with her work, and if i go back it'll only be for HER!!! Same spanish woman almost charged me $300 for these braids!! For reference, i get SINGLE braids done all the time for $150-200. This is insane and robbery. I told them "charge me that, im walking out." cause who you playing? NOT I, i'll tell you that much. MANAGER'S EXCUSE "We pay high rent" LMAOOO okay????? I feel bad for the women like Christiana who are trying to make an honest living while the salon is robbing the clientele. If you go, go for Christiana!

A very unprofessional team! I went to get my hair done for my engagement party. I just walked in and when I entered the store I was told that I would wait a few minutes, but I waited almost 40 minutes for the person to take care of me. I described how I want my hair to be, I showed sample photos. But the style she made on my hair didn't even look like the photos I showed her. I even had to show her which type of tongs to use. Because she was always using the wrong tongs. She was very slow and was video chatting with someone else while she was doing my hair! It was the worst hairdressing experience in my life. Also, they tried to charge me $95 even though it was around $45 on google maps. Only the lady who is the owner of the store was nice and kind. Other then that, it was a terrible experience. I wish I could give zero star!
