The rustic hard wood feels old world! It's Christmas time and the vibe is just that. Christmas tree decorated Christmas music on the radio and Christmas drinks behind the bar.

The food is fantastic and plentiful. The wait staff is very friendly. We both had the fish and chips for lunch. It was huge and yummy. We ate dinner here twice. We had Shepherds pie, Fishermans pie, Meatloaf Wellington and Mushroom Risotto. All were delicious!

Good food and service and an excellent band the night I was there. I had the meatloaf meal and it was a generous serving and tasty too

Gord and I had supper last evening at the pub in the Olde Angel Inn. It was a busy spot and we were seated in the back room. I had a turkey clubhouse (look at all that turkey!) and swapped out my fries for mashed potatoes. Gord had mac 'n cheese with crab. Both were good.

This is always a must stop for us when in NOTL. The historical charm, the ambiance and especially the food make this a one of a kind dining experience. Our service here is always great. If you like Shepards Pie, try it. If you've never had Shepherds Pie, try it. If you can't decide, yep, you guessed it, go for the Shepherds Pie. On our last visit we sat in the beer garden out back. It was a beautiful day and the setting was fun and relaxed, although you don't experience the history, the creeky wooden floors or the unique-ness of the restaurant when sitting outside. If it's your first visit, sit inside.

The fishermen's pie was fantastic. My husband had the steak and onion pie and he loved it. The best part was our waitress Mia she was amazing. Next time maybe will go earlier as it was a little bit noisy. But having said that we will definitely go back.

A very cute pub and inn, one of the oldest in North America which is special. We sat inside near a window and enjoyed the ambiance of the place. Good priced drinks too. Our server was excellent and very attentive. The food was pretty good too, but nothing crazy. The French onion soup was very good. We would come back - it was enjoyable!

I love the history of this inn. It was established way back in 1789. The town was then called Newark and was destined to become the first Capital of Upper Canada. Unsurprisingly it has seen its share of history, including the invasion of America (which probably comes as a surprise to most Americans), and had among its guest historical figures such as John Graves Simcoe, the first Lieutenant-Governor; Alexander Mackenzie, the explorer; Prince Edward, the father of the future Queen Victoria; and Thomas Moore, the Irish National Poet. That said, I wish I love the restaurant at the inn as much as I love its history. The place has a marketing line: "Probably" the best pub in the world. I don't know who made that pronouncement. Maybe back in the 1800s it was, even then the person probably just mean the new world, as I can easily imagine some British pub being even better. The place is cute, with all the aged wooden beams, old paintings and decorations. It has an extensive menu, including vegan items like beyond burger and vegan wings, and fancier stuff like quiche and curry. However, the wait of the food was way too long. We sat there for over half an hour, feeling forgotten. When the Guinness steak pie arrived, the puff pastry was a disappointment, not as flaky as we'd like. The meat was tender but the gravy too salty.
