My 22 year old Carrier furnace developed an issue that left us in the cold on a Sunday. Dave had a couple of his guys come first thing Monday morning to inspect. The main heat exchanger had developed a hole or possibly multiple holes so I opted to have a new unit installed because my furnace was so old and it would have cost more for the repair than it would have cost to completely replace. Dave had his guys install a new Payne furnace the same day and it's been working perfectly ever since. It actually seems to push the heat better than my carrier unit ever did.
