Regency Hospital - Cleveland East

I brought my husband here, and all of the staff did a great job. He got so much better in a small amount of time. I think this is a wonderful hospital!

This was challenging to evaluate because there are numerous excellent nurses here who genuinely care for their patients. Conversely, there are some who do not. When physical therapy permits a patient with a traumatic brain injury to fall and incur yet another head injury due to their own negligence and irresponsibility, it becomes a very serious issue! How can one justify turning away to converse with another nurse while your patient, who is unable to walk independently, faceplants and injures their head once more? This may have been the most preventable and unacceptable incident I have ever observed in a hospital. It epitomizes neglect, and I sincerely hope these nurses are held accountable for prioritizing their own interests over those of their patients, resulting in my fiancée sustaining a secondary head injury and needing to be readmitted to the ICU due to this hospital's negligence.

This will be an honest review.
So thus far I would say don’t be admitted on the weekend. Like all hospitals most areas like pt, dietary, etc. are not open until Monday. Staff is extremely busy but very nice and helpful.
Most nurses and aides are excellent but overwhelmed by short staff.
Nursing and aide care provide far exceeds that of a regular hospital care. Except when patient load increases then they are short staffed. Some days I don’t know what happened but nurses and aides were taking very long to respond. At times waiting twenty five minutes to get bathroom assistance. A change of staff is more worried about rules than listening to your needs. I have been itching from my bed bath because an aide insisted that she had to give it to me a particular way even knowing that way causes some of us discomfort. Also, I was told because they were short on staff I couldn’t use the bedside commode. I had to use the bed pan or just go in the bed and they would clean me. WTH! Yet I hear a lot of laughing in the hallway. Again not regular aides.
Why do we have to wait until 12 a.m. before we can have a bed bath? Right now it’s 12:45 and I’m still waiting to be washed. There is one aide doing this whole section. They are too busy to do it during the day. So you have to stay awake all night waiting for your bath. No wonder everyone sleeps during the day. Sweet baby Jesus! Regular aides not here. Night aides terrible!!
I don’t know where they came from but I wish they would go back.
Wound care remains excellent.
Now nurses will give you a rundown of medication. There has never been a mistake.
The food is pretty good and food service is extremely attentive to requests but it’s a shame we have to send aides and nurses back to the kitchen to get missing food items, condiments, beverages, and cutlery.
The hospital is cleaner than most places. It’s nothing fancy but clean is better than fancy.
It’s not beneath most nurses or aides to clean or pick up something off the floor.

Except for one doctor. I noticed he will not wake up a patient but just talks to them while they sleep. The patient has no idea he came around and they spend the day still waiting for him.
I was not sure about this hospital because of the bad reviews but honestly I would not think twice about coming back here for care. Like any place there are good days and bad days. Great staff and not so great staff. Overall this is a great place to come for wound and the rehab of internal care.

If I could leave a negative rating, I would. I strongly urge anyone considering this facility to schedule a tour before making a decision. Unfortunately, we did not, and our choice was heavily influenced by Regency’s affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic. While the staff appeared friendly, the quality of care was profoundly disappointing.

My father was admitted after spending three weeks in the ICU at Cleveland Clinic, and he remained at Regency for over a month without any sign of improvement—in fact, his condition worsened. At one point, the attending physician even advised us to prepare as hospice care may be the next step due to his lack of progress.

During each of our visits, regardless of time of day, we consistently observed that no patients were out of their rooms or in wheelchairs—my father included. He was almost always asleep or lethargic, and staff repeatedly gave the same explanation: “He was just up a little while ago.” However, it was clear he was not receiving any physical therapy or efforts to encourage eating, despite being on a feeding tube post-surgery.

We later discovered he had been prescribed three antipsychotic medications—without our knowledge or consent. This lack of communication and transparency is deeply concerning.

Since transferring to a new facility just three days ago, the difference has been extraordinary. He is now alert, interacting with others in common areas, eating, and actively participating in physical therapy. A nurse at the new facility even mentioned that it’s not uncommon for patients coming from places much like Regency, to arrive on unnecessary sedating medications.

In short, our experience with Regency was disheartening. I sincerely hope they take these concerns seriously and make meaningful improvements in their standards of care. Families entrust facilities like this with their most vulnerable loved ones—Regency must do better.

The staff always checked on me to see if there was anything I needed, or anything they could do for me. The care was very good.

My father is a current patient at Regency, and the staff is extremely nice. Everyone is always available for any requests. Diamond the reception is so helpful and pleasant, she knows everyone that comes through the door. She even noticed when I hadn't visited in a few days, which was surprising. Other facilities don't even know your name, or where your going. Joi who I believe is the nursing assistant was a Joy to have in my father's room for the week I encountered her. Her patience and personality just lights up the room. It's staff like this that makes the place worth having your family stay more comfortable. You barley find a hospital where all the staff speak and greet you.

My mother was held here currently getting her transferred because it is honestly the WORST hospital I have ever dealt with! Caregivers, nurses, “doctors” or whatever you want to call them, continually letting her sit in her own feces for over an HOUR! Super unprofessional greeting us in the room with “what’s the problem” as my mother has a tube down her throat and obviously can’t speak.
Bed sheets were being changed and they threw my mother to the point where I thought she was going to fall off the bed. Beyond disrespectful. I’m at a loss for words and so beyond curious as to how this place is still running!?

Regency Hospital Cleveland East is a wonderful place. The staff is very friendly, attentive, and caring. The nursing staff and aides are very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make you comfortable. The hospital is very clean and well kept. Housekeeping does a very thorough and wonderful job. The therapists are exceptional and make therapy fun. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone who needs it.
