Highland Springs Behavioral Health Hospital offers inpatient, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programming. Reviews describe the experience as possibly the most life changing thing that has ever happened. The structured routine and order is something special, and the people met there change perspective on life and become friends. The inpatient program made patients feel welcome, safe, and supported. All staff are described as kind, amazing, and focused on patient needs. Specific staff members like nurses Mika, Jackie, Will, Nyiah, Lance, and PCA Will are noted for being always kind and caring. Nurse practitioner Bre ensured stability and safe step-down. Dean and Savannah work hard to encourage and support patients. The IOP met and even exceeded expectations, with a general instruction approach pulling from a variety of therapy styles. The counselor Zoe was immensely competent, empathetic, smart, and funny. The nursing staff strive to maintain quality of care through a transition to corporate run. As a trans man, one reviewer never felt safer. The other patients treat each other like family. Discharge dates can be sketchy, but the experience changed lives and gave a new path. Flexible options include a women's IOP and virtual groups. It is the best place for urgent mental health care in the Greater Cleveland area.
I was pink slipped here a week ago. It was mediocre, the nurses up front always had an attitude like I’m supposed to know everything. The only horrible thing about the place is the food. PLEASE upgrade your food, because to be completely honest having to eat that slop for a whole week was torture and just made me more depressed. Also invest in more phones please, I don’t think it’s fair only being able to call your loved ones for 10 minutes. That’s not nearly enough time and it goes by super quickly. Highland Springs saved my life, quite literally. They were very patient and empathetic, even after my many inpatient visits. They never lost hope for me. Their employees were beyond AMAZING- actual angels on Earth. They are what makes or breaks your stay at a facility, and Highland truly knows how to pick the good ones. They became like family to me. On my last stay (8/2022), recovery finally stuck. And now, I celebrate 4 years of continuous sobriety all thanks to Highland, for never turning me away or giving up on me- no matter how many attempts it took. I went to Highland Springs in late February, and the experience was exactly what I needed. They allowed smoke breaks, let us do karaoke, we had way more freedoms than any psych ward I've been to before. Don't get me wrong, it was still a psych ward, but they were far nicer than any other psych ward I've been to.
What really helped me was the other patients though. They were all so sweet and so kind, and the groups were so validating to speak in because everyone there is also going through hell and they actually understood me.
