I contacted MHAP for an explanation on what services might be available for someone experiencing homelessness an issues with mental health. LaShawna answered my call by the second ring. She greeted me with an empathic tone and questions to clarify the situation so she could offer the best solutions. She was quite easy to talk to and thorough with her explanation of resources!

I really got to know these folks all too well in the first half of the 2000s. They seemed decent the first several times I went to see them, but by 2005 I finally started to see what's wrong here. One of the agencies they refer people to explained me that Ohio's extremely narrow definition of "legal deafness" is the reason I won't be provided services in ASL despite my assertion that ASL is my primary language.Cincinnati has a very broken mental health system. MHAP needs a serious overhaul. My psychiatrist in Garden Grove, CA has diagnosed me with PTSD mostly from a violent upbringing, but agrees with me that many of my experiences with the Cincinnati mental health system...read full review
