This place is horrible, and they do not communicate with you about your loved ones. They are not who you want to send your person to for help.

I was admitted to Glenwood on a 72 hour hold. For reference I am 18 years old. When I arrived at this facility, I was given some papers to sign, and nobody really explained what I was signing. One of the papers had my mother’s ex husband as my emergency contact, who I have not spoken to since 2022 because my mother has a protection order against him, and he has never been my emergency contact as I was not in a psychiatric facility until months after the protection order was in place. After I was given the paper, I was left unattended in the room for over an hour and a half. I was there because I was in an active psychotic episode and I was going to hurt myself. I knocked on the window to try and go to the bathroom more than 5 times over the course of 45 minutes, and nobody heard me because they had their AirPods in. Once somebody finally let me go to the bathroom, I then had to knock 3 times with multiple minute intervals for someone to even hear me to let me back in the room. I was placed on the 300 unit. The next day I was switched to the 400 unit. That same day I participated in self injurious behavior, 4 separate times, which none of the staff even noticed. I also attempted to kill myself by wrapping my blanket around my neck, and I was on the verge of passing out when I felt something spiritually telling me to let go of the blanket. I was coughing and breathing very heavily, and not a single time during this 15 or more minute time did anyone come to check on me. And they are supposed to do checks at the longest every 15 minutes. Nobody even knew this happened until I came out of my room and told a nurse. That same day an older woman who was also a patient flashed everyone by showing her breasts and I am pretty sure staff didn’t even know about that either. A few days later, I was out in the main area at night time waiting for a staff member to talk to me, while I was left alone with a male patient. I am a female for reference. The male patient had his genitals exposed and was actively touching himself. I turned my head because obviously I don’t want to see that. Finally a nurse came back out onto the unit and told him to go to his room if he was going to do that. Another thing that happened this same admission is I was asleep in my room, when I was awoken by somebody touching my backside. I turned over and my door was open and an older male patient was actively touching me on my behind. This male patient was a 1:1 by the way, and it was about a minute before his staff even came in the room and told him to leave. Every time I patient got upset or even a little loud, their first line of defense is an injection of Haldol into the patient. Not to mention the doctor. The doctor that saw me tried to diagnose me with Bipolar 1 with a depressive episode. First of all, the only reason I was in this facility is because I stopped taking Ziprazidone which was prescribed to me by my outpatient psychiatrist. The first thing this doctor said to me was listing off three different antipsychotics one of which I have already tried in the past that did not work. I told him he was absolutely not changing my medication and I will resume taking my Ziprazidone in a couple of days. I left the room with him and then a nurse came into the room I was in with three pills that I do not take. She said they was Abilify and Zoloft. I never even signed a paper that gave them permission to give me these medications. I only signed off on Vistril, Intuniv, Ziprasidone, and Olanzapine. I was not once given my Vitamin D supplement, Zyrtec, and they refused to give me Focalin which I am prescribed my my outpatient provider. They told me if I did not take these medications that they told me I have to take I will be court ordered to take them.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. First off the communication from the staff on the unit to the front desk to a specific case worker is ,there not on the same page. The nurse told us everyone on his visitation list could visit so that meant his younger siblings who are only a year younger than him. We drove 2 hours and 35 mins to visit. for our children to be told no. The lack of communication is ridiculous. They only time you can speak to an actual human is when they call for authorization on a med or when you call the front desk. They say they offer help that is a joke. Please do right by your kids and take them somewhere else. And please learn what rights you have as a parent. FYI for any parent reading this after 72 hours of you voluntarily putting your child in any institution of this nature you can sign your child out ama. I didnt know that till another social worker from a hospital told me of my rights.

Worst place by far for medication.nloved most the staff but hated a few of them that forced me a shot while I was pregnant and i haven't stopped bleeding since I got that forsed medicine. Anyone that forsed you to get something you don't want will be locked up put in ball and placed on the same medication. And I'm making sure of that, ,my body hasn't felt right since that medication. I was so much happier as a person before coming there that place actually tramatized me to the point where my body keeps shaking

I have been here twice. I have refused to go here multiple times due to the things that have happened. When I first came to this hospital I was 14. Staff were helping minor patients communicate romantically through notes helping passing them from the girls and boys units. They knew stuff was happening between the patients and did nothing. This place needs to be shutdown. It does not help the struggling people. The staff could care less about your mentally struggling child. I have listened to kids beg and beg for them to get picked up. This isn’t okay. The staff are they for the money. I was in there for mental health issues and self harm issues. We had TWO therapy groups out of both the times i was there. I was there for about a week both times. During one of these groups we were talking about privacy on teens phones and the group leader shows the ENTIRE group of struggling teenagers a video of his son cutting himself that he found in his son’s phone. This hospital does not help at all. It makes things worse. There was a girl in the isolation room and she had something and cutting herself in the room and they didn’t stop her. They refused to let kids call their parents/relatives. They let patients give their information out. There are constant fights with patients and staff. I was on 150mg of a medication and they bumped it up to 300mg without telling me or my mother and I felt high and my sister even noticed I wasn’t myself. Seriously please do not let your struggling teenager here. It will make it worse.

This place is very disorganized, unprofessional, and not helpful at all. I came here to get help and the first thing they did was cold turkey my medications. I went through withdrawals. Next, the staff were inattentive to the safety needs of the unit. There were multiple times I found a male patient in my bed waiting for me and even at night one time a patient entered my room. They played loud music while patients were on the phone so you couldn’t hear the call. I could go on about my stay, but I am filing a formal complaint.

I honestly don’t even know where to start and I was only there 3 days. My very first day one of the techs, his name is Will was doing our 15 minute checks so I seen him often told me to make sure I give him my phone number before I got out. Keep in mind I’m severely struggling and at my rock bottom. I report this immediately and was moved to a different unit. I thought they were handling this predator until it was time for us to have visit. He then came and got me and supervised my visit with my brother! The unit I was moved off of and my new unit shared the nurses desk and were separated by a door they typically kept open so I even seen him the next day. No investigation, no suspension, NOTHING. Fast forward to my last day another worker came into my room early and woke me up. I knew my 72 hours were up that day and wanted to know when I could go home. He laughed at me and said not anytime soon. I then requested to speak to the patient care advocate and he laughed at me again and responded “why so you can report me too?” Fast forward 3 days after I left AMA I finally get a call from this patient care advocate and she starts questioning me on my reports I had made during my stay. I once again explained everything but then I questioned her on why this is being took care of almost a week after the first report. She had no solid answer and I hope she’s ashamed of herself. She was MY ADVOCATE and she failed me and my safety along with others. Standing right beside the nurses station in line for breakfast a patient starting hitting and assaulting another patient. This goes on for multiple hits and no one does anything. We are yelling for the nurses to help us and nothing happened. The patient doing the assaulting was older and in a wheelchair, I grabbed the wheelchair and moved him away so he could not reach anyone and finally got the nurses attention. Same day at Breakfast another patient hits another patient. This time the nurses at least reacted, but it was only by yelling and belittling him in front of everyone. I apologize if this seem scattered but it was the most traumatizing thing I’ve been through and a lot happened in 3 days. You have to beg just to get water to drink. My room, 403 did not have hot water. I took ice cold showers. We had 2 phones we could use. Keep in mind the majority of the patients in there are mentally disabled. Some of them can’t even read. I overheard multiple patients asking if they could get numbers out of their phones so they could call their loved ones and were DENIED. They had been in there much longer than me and had no way to reach out to anyone outside of that prison. I signed a release of information for my mom, and only my mom. She called all day everyday to get answers, see how I was doing, wanting some kind of update. If she actually got someone to answer they refused to tell her anything. However, they did let me dad and my brother in and gave them information on me without A release of information signed by me. I got admitted there from my local ER. The ER never contacted my emergency contact to tell them I was transferred to Glenwood. My local ER sedated me before the transfer so I wasn’t completely with it to ask if anyone let my parents know where I was going. It wasn’t until the next day I was able to call my mom and let her know I was over 2 hours away from home and that I had already had issues with Will. Absolutely no therapy ever happened. No one to talk to. No real help. They have “groups “ I attend because I thought this would be thing to process and receive feedback. But I was wrong, you play uno or other games. Glenwood, you have my number. If you would like to go into a further discussion about this feel free to call me anytime. Unlike you I care about the way you’re treating people trying to get some type of help.
