About UR Medicine Home Care

UR Medicine Home Care receives mixed reviews from clients and a former employee. One client describes the care received over six months as top notch, with fantastic nurses and the best of the best aides, characterizing the staff as caring and kind. Another family expresses deep thanks for the compassionate care and services provided by the hospice team, benefiting from nursing, social services, and spiritual support. However, a former employee alleges a corrupt and insensitive environment, reporting that a supervisor made ignorant and hurtful comments about clients. Despite reporting the incidents to HR, the employee felt the supervisor was defended and the meeting was turned against them. The contrast in experiences is significant, with some describing excellent, kind care while a staff member reports unacceptable behavior from leadership.

UR Medicine Home Care is the most corrupt place I have ever worked. After my client was tragically killed by a drunk driver, I was grieving his loss. The first thing my supervisor said to me during our Zoom supervision was "talk about karma" because my client who was killed happened to be an alcoholic. On another occasion, she made a comment about my client who was raped stating "that goes with the lifestyle" due to her struggling with addiction. These are just two of the many ignorant comments she made to me while I worked under her. When I reported her to HR, they assured me she should not be making these comments and that she was in the wrong. During our Zoom HR meeting , she admitted to making these comments and cried hysterically on camera. she said "what I said isn't even that bad, Docs in the ED at HH say worse". HR defended her. She also stated "I'm not sure why you are so upset , you only knew him a short amount of time". She then brought up several things she felt I was doing wrong and turned the meeting onto me even though she never had anything negative to say about my work prior to the meeting. I now work at PCHO where we celebrate our clients lives who have passed and I am much happier. I know not a single person at the current agency I work for would ever speak about the clients we serve in this manner and her behavior would not be tolerated there.
