My long-time optometrist had an independent practice, so when he retired I was sadly forced to find a new one. Having gone to an optometrist since I was very young, I knew I preferred a solo practice that emphasized relationship, versus a chain that often has a revolving door of newly graduated doctors.
After initially perusing Internet reviews, I realized I could simply ask my optician, Tamra Asmuth, of One Hip Chic. Having purchased glasses from her for more than a decade, my husband and I have found Tamra to be extarordinarily trustworthy. On her recommendation I called Eye Appeal Masters in Vision.
The receptionist was profoundly personable and informative, and found a time slot where my husband and I could see the doctor back-to-back (the location on Culver Rd is bit out of our way). After my interaction with Nadine, I was optimistic since the tone and communication-style of the person answering the phone is often an indicator of the business’s culture.
Upon our arrival we were immediately welcomed by Nadine, who was as warm in-person as she was over the phone. While completing the new patient paperwork we overheard her cashing out another patient. She took the time to do a little research to help him navigate his new insurance and informed him of some upcoming changes in his policy, which he appreciated.
Within a few minutes Dr. Jaime Kenny introduced herself and explained the tests that she was going to administer. I have endured the air-puff test (that measures eye pressure) more than a dozen times in my life and have always felt bad about jumping — as if it was a reflection of my lack of self-control -- and always felt guilty about forcing them to repeat it. Never have I had someone explain that jumping is a natural response, is expected, and cannot be controlled. Her explanation was so calming that she was able to check both my eyes in one attempt — which as I have mentioned — has never happened before!
Throughout the examination Dr. Kenny fully listened to my all my concerns and then comprehensively and humorously explained the status of my eyes' health. She even gave me the time to discuss holistic options. It was an absolute treat to be with a healthcare provider that genuinely appeared to care and did not rush you off tin order to see the next patient.
When Nadine was processing our paperwork she began to punch in a a series of numbers in her calculator and produced a total that was less than half of what we would have paid at our previous optometrist’s. A delightful surprise! My husband mentioned all his groovy frames that have old prescriptions in them and she asked if we would like to speak to Mark, the owner, who is an optician...plus.
We didn’t want to waste Mark’s time, but Nadine reassured us. And consistent with Nadine and Dr. Kenny, Mark was personable, seasoned, and professional. As he spoke it was clear he was not just a mere frame guy but actually had hands-on experience with the creation of the lenses. Without question in the future we will be brining in some of our frames to get a price on updating them. And since some of the finishing work is done in-house, I imagine it will be less expensive than elsewhere.
I marvel at the level of care and attention my husband and I received at Eye Appeal Masters in Vision, and unless things drastically change, expect to be a longtime customer.

I agree with the other customers regarding the thoroughness of Merk and rhe cortous and politeness of his supporting staff. I give a 4 star because even though Mark replaced my lenses due to very light tint of the transition feature free of charge. The replacement lenses trasitions did no improve significant. Then I conclude that the issue.is low quality transitions lenses either ehen they apply over the surface of the lens or enveded in the lens. Would I'll do business? Certainly I will as long as I don't need transitions.

Never, in my 30 years of wearing glasses.Have I ever gone to a place where he wants to charge me $30 because I bought my glasses online just to tighten my glasses Just to put them in a warmer and tighten them up no tools needed no nothing, no energy at all. It probably would have took two seconds Thirty dollars smh how crazy its just said how they want to take advantage of us then had the nerve to say that's why I don't do business with them smh just save ya time this place is no good

Came to Eye Appeal for my first ever eye exam & had a fantastic experience!! All of the staff are super friendly & so helpful. Dr. Kennedy was awesome explaining everything to me during the exam & answered all my questions. Mark was fantastic helping me pick out frames that actually flattered & fit my face perfectly. The two receptionists, Joyce & Nadine, are so kind & fun to chat with. All around great vibe & very relaxing atmosphere. Also feels good to patronize a local community business.

Best place for glasses! I'm on probably my 3rd or 4th pair from Mark and staff. Service is the best. You're always treated like a important person not some number! All in one stop. The exam, the glasses, free adjustments always all with Smiles. You won't be disappointed!
