The New York School of Urban Ministry (NYSUM) is a caring and dedicated organization that works to serve and support the community in NYC. It offers a variety of ministries, including food pantries, women and children homes, food trucks, children’s programs in community churches, prayer walks, parks, and veterans programs. Visitors and volunteers often find support from staff and are encouraged to try new activities, with plenty of opportunities for fun and meaningful work. The location is safe and surrounded by coffee shops and restaurants. NYSUM staff show genuine love and kindness, and the programs are driven by a strong vision to reach out to those in need, especially in today’s culture. Many have experienced growth, fellowship, and the love of Jesus through their involvement. Overall, NYSUM is highly recommended for its impactful work and welcoming environment.
Love this place and all the people in it!!! Love all the opportunities they gave us to reach so many hurting people with free food drives and clothing giveaways and the prayer station! Can't wait to come back
My church in NYC (Meta Church on the UES) had a mission team of 15 people visit for the weekend and they stayed/were hosted at NYSUM and they couldn’t stop raving about their hospitality and kindness! Everyone they interacted with - from booking to checkout - was extremely helpful and kind. The facility itself is very well kept and you can tell that the staff cares about making sure guests & teams are well-accommodated.
Would highly recommend NYSUM to others and we will definitely be working with them again in the future.
I was part of a group that came to do evangelism and outreach, and had a wonderful experience! You can tell the leadership of NYSUM are genuine people and truly have a passion for reaching the lost. They were super organized and communicative in the details for our team. Hope to come back!
