“We were so fortunate to have Dr. DiRusso care for our beloved 15-year-old Rottie-Sharpei mix, Blake, during the most difficult weeks of his life. From the start, he stayed in regular contact with my sister, checking in often and even working with us late into the evenings to make things work for our schedules. His dedication and compassion were truly above and beyond anything we expected.

As Blake’s health declined, Dr. DiRusso remained closely involved. One evening, while he was out to dinner, he even offered to meet us at his home just to check on Blake—that level of commitment is rare and speaks volumes about the kind of person and veterinarian he is. When the time came to say goodbye, he came to our house so that Blake could pass peacefully at home, surrounded by love.

Dr. DiRusso walked us through every step of the process with patience, empathy, and care. He made sure we were confident in our decision, and he stayed with us, offering comfort and even offered helping with the burial. He sent us a sympathy card and plant seeds to place around Blake’s grave in our backyard—an incredibly touching and meaningful gesture.

“On June 2nd the time had come to say goodbye to my Lexie. This heartbreaking decision is never easy under any circumstance let alone that my girl was never one for car travel and would always panic on her way to the vet. I was so fortunate to have found Zen Dog and Dr. Ray. This service is a blessing in so many ways. Dr. Ray was able to get to us quickly enough that my girl wasn’t suffering for long. He was incredibly kind, patient and walked us through each step of the process. There was no rush, she went to sleep peacefully surrounded by everyone and everything that made her feel safe. Dr. Ray even allowed our other dog, her best friend time to sniff and begin to process the change. He took Lexie with him carefully and respectfully. We chose to have her cremated and she will be coming home tomorrow. Through the entire process it felt like Dr. Ray had been our family vet for years, not someone we had just met. “Had a very good visit with Dr bardari. My dog had some very vague symptoms and the dr came to a very likely diagnosis of low grade pancreatitis. She made him more comfortable with fluids and an anti nausea meds and he is back to himself.“

- Management and staff have always been responsive to even minor feedback.
- Handling of insurance is seamless. Never have to even think about it.

After 5+ years of having 3 cats at Heart of Chelsea (2 routine/healthy cats, one who went through an uncommon illness) we couldn’t be happier and have never been disappointed.

It’s a 25 minute trip for us, but easily worth it.

“We found Dr. Solomon last summer. Our first visit was for our cat, Loki, to be neutered. I was impressed with how much time Doctor Solomon took with us to explain everything during the consultation. Much different atmosphere than my previous vet. Everything also went great with the neutering and the cost was very affordable. Our second visit was with my senior dog, who after having a couple bad experiences at the previous vet was a little skittish of the vet and they were no longer even able to get blood work from her without her whining and crying. This is a dog that doesn’t typically cry over anything. Dr. Solomon took this into consideration, shaved the area, used calming petting and other techniques to keep her calm and was able to get blood. All the vet techs at the office genuinely love animals and you can tell they love their job. We have recently had some health scares with Loki and Dr. Solomon has been so good at explaining everything and giving us options. He’s always also given multiple options for a treatment when possible in case cost is a factor. His front desk staff is very professional and friendly. I am so glad that we found Bronx County animal Hospital. We plan on continuing bringing our present and future furry children to him!“

Recently, I had a kitten who ultimately was very sickly and did not make it but the vets at Sleepy Hollow handled the situation with extreme care and respect. While my kittens final care was handled by a recommended specialist, the vets at Sleepy Hollow personally called me to offer condolences, send me a card, and made a donation to Cornell University's animal science program in her honor. “Dobbs Ferry Animal Hospital is terrific. We've been taking our pets there for 20 years. Don't be deterred by the office's modest appearance. It's a serious, extremely competent place. Everyone is devoted to their work and very knowledgeable. Ignore people who say they found staff rude. They're not. Dr. Mendelsohn is a straightforward, no-nonsense doc. Same with the vet tech. Parking lot is limited but you can park on a side street.“
