Their pricing was extremely fair and service was top notch. Dale and Jim went above and beyond for me, answering every question I had and even gave me advice on how to save money on my new home. When I needed an additional quick fix, someone showed up the next morning. I highly recommend Huber for any plumbing or HVAC problem you have.“

“We had a new deck installed around our pool and house. Dwaine did an excellent job and helped save us money by using some existing material that was utilized for the decking. They are very thorough and had excellent communication with us throughout the entire process.“

“As a first time homeowner, I am still learning what I need and how a house hums! (especially my very old historic home). Mike was very helpful and explained everything to me, was communicative and professional leading up to and during the install, and even made himself readily available to return to the property when I had a small issue with the gutters — he resolved it no problem. Definitely would recommend!“

“Twelve years ago, my wife and I set out to build our dream house. Today, we live in it thanks to John Hommel of Ashley Homes Construction. If you are someone who aspires to a build a home that is special, you can't do better than Ashley Homes. We were nervous about the prospects of tearing down our old hunting cabin and building new. That nervousness was compounded as we spoke to builder after builder who said that what we couldn't build what we wanted as a modular. There were always the "that cannot be done" statements. Other builders came to the property and said they would have to cut down most of the trees leading to the house for the modular cranes to get in and deliver the house. We spent years negotiating with seven builders. We finally reached our breaking point. That's when we met John Hommel and learned of Ashley Homes. He came and looked at our property, looked at my wife's plans, and every time we said, "Of course, we know that can't be done in a modular," John would say, "Why not?" It seemed that there was nothing we wanted that he felt they couldn't do and do well. He also showed a great interest in preserving as many of our trees as possible. As it turned out, he planned so well that everything at delivery went perfectly and we honestly can't remember what trees are no longer there. John had an easy, low-key manner that put us at ease and we decided to go with Ashley. Ashley did everything from the teardown and removal of the old hunting cabin to the digging of our full basement in bluestone. The resulting home is exactly what we hoped for. It is the realization of my wife's drawings, the architectural rendering of the modular home factory that Ashley uses, and the ideas and encouragement from John Hommel. Unlike other modular builders who pressured us to make up our minds quickly about the myriad details involved in building a house, John Hommel and his staff were patient and guided us through the process without pressure. He made suggestions, including for the beautiful molding around our windows. Ashley's carpenters, painters, plumbers, electricians worked together well, and we could not be happier with the finishing work that they did, including a gorgeous knotty pine ceiling in the great room, hardwood floors and a stone fireplace. Where other companies had told us we couldn't have the huge windows we wanted, Ashley said it was no problem, resulting in a home that is a light-flooded space that has us feel like we are living outdoors. As with any building project, there were a few bumps, so I'll tell about some things here that we learned that could have made things easier. The first is that John Hommel is most responsive in person or by telephone. Email and text messages aren't his forte. Once I learned that it was better to telephone or drop by and that I should follow up on all promises, things worked well. The second thing--and this is a big one--is that we thankfully chose a new kind of foundation--the BuildBlock foundation (ICF--Insulated Concrete Forms) that has thick Styrofoam on the outside and concrete poured into the center. It is a tremendously strong, insulating and waterproof foundation and we're glad we chose it. But when the house was "completed" we looked and saw that all the exposed areas of the foundation were Styrofoam and I asked John about it. He said that we could cover it with stucco or concrete. I said, "Go ahead." Unfortunately--and this is the lesson learned--that cost had not been in the original contract for the house. Because we are on a slope, there was a lot of exposed Styrofoam! At first, it looked like it could be up to $30,000 extra to properly fix that omission. I was furious. John began to look for alternatives and found a great product that is both beautiful and strong that was applied for a total cost of close to $10,000. But I want to warn anyone building a home to make sure that the cost of that finishing is included in your first contract so you do“

“We bought a house whose main staircase was open on one side and needed a banister installed. It was a pretty weird setup, with a crawlspace between the floors to get around and a partial banister at the top. The owner, Gene, came by and took measurements, said no sweat about the eccentric curve that'd be needed for the rail at the top to get around the crawlspace, and gave us what felt like a fair estimate. He told me it'd be about five weeks before the woodwork was finished, and right around that time after the deposit was paid, it was ready for installation. The crew did the job and cleaned up well. We're thrilled with how the banister looks and works. As others have suggested, it can take a little effort to get on their roster. But they're busy because they're good and because there aren't a lot of places around that specialize in what they do. I had to be a little persistent to get the initial visit, and it was worth the trouble.“
