Charmaine Was recommended by one of my good friends she’s been coming to Charmaine for a very long time she Spoke very highly of her .Which made me give Charmaine a call/try . I had a very terrible experience with another salon, which damaged curls with excessive heat and bleaching .After having my appointment with Charmaine my curl pattern and texture came back within one month. I have been getting my haircut here for 45 years! Back then it was more of a guy's barber shop and Joseph wax the man. Over the years it became a place for everyone, a real neighborhood institution. Today Charmaine still gives the best haircuts!

This was a great cut and good service by Charmaine- the cutter and stylist. The rare here is very good for a wash, cut and dry. Charmaine was very nice to meet and chat with. She gave the cut exactly as I asked for. I will be there again for my next cut ✂️ Thank you!

Tried Charmaine’s salon for the first time. She is very sweet, welcoming, professional. Asked for highlights and a cut. Cut was good but the highlights were done poorly. Splotchy, inconsistent and not close to scalp. Showed grow out just two days after my appt. I called her to help and she just said “that’s how they’re supposed to be.” Disappointing.

I needed to get a routine dye to cover my greys, so I figured I could save a buck and not go to a high end salon for it. A single hair color process is the easiest dye job you can get. I looked up the reviews of this place and they seemed generally positive. BIG MISTAKE.When I called to get a quote I was told $60-80, which sounded fine. I went in and should have known something was off when Charmaine sloshed the dye in without really paying attention. It was all over my ears and neck. She said she would leave it in for half an hour and then went and dealt with 3 other clients. She ended up leaving me in the chair for an hour. She washed it out and then charged me $100 instead of the amount I was told over the phone. I didn’t want a blow out so left with my hair wet, unable to see the outcome until I got home.When I got home and blow dried it out I was horrified. My hair is chestnut brown, but half of it was JET BLACK and not just the roots. I’m half Asian and she obviously thinks all Asian women have exactly the same black hair color. When I called her she told me I was wrong and that she’d matched my hair tone, but it was totally obvious she either chose the wrong color or just forgot about me in the chair. I went back in and we looked at the difference in the color swatch and my actual hair color yet she still wouldn’t admit that she’d screwed up and kept treating me like I was crazy. She said it would fade in the sun and not to worry. It’s been a month and half and my head is still a different color. Even worse, the point of me going in was to cover my greys, now they’re even more visible against the jet black.Tbh the only people I saw in this place were senior citizens or guys coming in for a cut. Seriously avoid if you care what your hair looks like. It’s not worth trying to save the money - in fact she charged me what a high end salon would charge anyways.
