About Montefiore Medical Center Wakefield Campus Emergency Room

Montefiore Medical Center Wakefield Campus Emergency Room receives mixed reviews from patients. Many report very positive experiences, describing great care from kind, attentive, and professional doctors and nurses. Several note they were seen quickly and had a good overall experience, with the facility being clean and less active than other locations. Multiple reviewers state they always receive the best care here and will return for emergencies, praising the staff's bedside manners. However, experiences can vary significantly depending on the day. Some patients report very long wait times, including one instance of a 15-hour delay before admission. Triage and intake can sometimes feel rough or lacking in emotion. At busy times, the emergency room can be packed, which one reviewer described as "hell." There are also accounts of disorganization, such as a patient being brought to the wrong area and experiencing long waits for basic medication. Despite these inconsistencies, many patients remain very pleased with the medical care received.

I don’t leave reviews on hospitals often. Especially as a healthcare worker, I understand how overwhelming things can get. However, my grandmother & I’s experience here was flawless. Every single healthcare worker we came in contact with ESPECIALLY the nurses, were so helpful, caring & compassionate. Nurse Barry from the ED triage and Nurse Sam from floor 4 of Geriatrics stood out to me the most. Thank you ladies for the compassion & care. We appreciate it so much.

Also I usually only go to Einstein. But I must say, Einstein needs to take notes from Wakefield. From the nurses to the doctors, Wakefield is a better choice.

Some of the staff especially when registration desk are rude and no compassion. I thank the other nurses and staff who I have encountered showed kindness, compassion, and good care.
Staff who transport patient for any imaging gets done have no manners what so ever. Come into my mom’s room and don’t tell us where they are taking her. These two men just started disconnecting everything and i had to ask where they taking her. Unprofessional!
I’m pretty sure they don’t want this to happen to their own family member.
I get some patients are difficult but had some aren’t. Don’t take your attitude and act like all individual are the same.

I will always come here when I have an emergency. Can it be hell when it's packed? Oh Yes. But everytime I've been seen by a doctor or nurse in the ER, I've been taken care of very well. They're beside manners are great. If you're good to them, they really take care of you. I've brought both my kids here for ER visits. I've been seen here since I was a teenager. My sister was born at this hospital. We've seen it change in all kinds of ways. But I've always gotten the best care. Triage/in-take can be a little rough or lacking emotion BUT can you imagine all the things they've had to endure/see?
