I recently completed a full gut renovation of my apartment at 301 East 79th Street, Apt. 8A, New York, NY 10028, and selected DDC Renovation through a competitive bidding process.

While DDC was not the lowest bidder, their proposal was by far the most comprehensive, transparent, and thoughtfully prepared. Their scope of work was clearly defined, the pricing was easy to understand, and the milestone-based payment schedule gave me confidence from the outset.

The entire renovation was completed in just nine weeks from the day the apartment was turned over to them—an impressive achievement for a full gut renovation in New York City. Throughout the project, DDC handled all permits and building approvals professionally and coordinated seamlessly with building management and the superintendent. The project remained on schedule and within the agreed budget.

As with any renovation, there were a number of change orders. However, these were handled collaboratively, transparently, and fairly. Wherever additional costs arose, Frank worked with me to identify savings elsewhere so we could maximize the overall value of the renovation rather than simply increase the budget.

One of Frank’s greatest strengths is his practical judgment. He isn’t interested in recommending unnecessary work. For example, instead of replacing the HVAC system, he suggested servicing it because it was still in good condition. The savings allowed us to redesign the kitchen, creating significantly more countertop space and installing new cabinetry instead of attempting to refurbish cabinets that were over 30 years old. His advice was that with everything else in the kitchen being renovated, postponing the cabinets for another two or three years would have been a false economy. In hindsight, it was absolutely the right decision.

Frank assembled an excellent team. His deputy, Azim, worked closely with me throughout the selection process, managing allowances and helping choose finishes and fixtures through DDC’s Brooklyn showroom. The site supervisor, Orif, was knowledgeable, organized, and attentive to detail, ensuring that work progressed smoothly every day.

Communication throughout the project was excellent. Questions were answered promptly, any issues were addressed quickly, and I always felt informed about the progress of the renovation. The apartment was kept remarkably clean throughout construction, and there were no complaints from either the building or my neighbors.

Purchasing and renovating property in New York City can be a stressful experience, but DDC made the construction process remarkably straightforward. Their professionalism, honesty, craftsmanship, and collaborative approach exceeded my expectations.
