Copper Cat has been around for years. I first heard of her over a decade ago, she had a stand at a craft fair or farmers market where she sold her mosiac tile displays, of which I bought some gifts for myself and for my MIL. She was doing some small private classes teaching mosiac styles at that time. Fast forward a few years ago, after following on social media, saw she had moved to a new space off East McCarran, and had some expanded classes taught by other artist creators in the area. Woohoo! Finally made it to a mosaic workshop and it was SO fantastic! Before I say more - go here right now for holiday shopping!! I didn't realize there were so many great items for sale here too - some Nevada themed, if you're looking for that - at super reasonable prices for beautiful/funny/unique artisan crafts. Copper Cat Studio is owned by Katie Packham and she taught the mosaic workshop I went to this weekend. It's 3 hours long for a small project (depending on size of substrate, or material you're building the mosaic on) or 5 hours for the big project option. So 10 am to either 1 or 3 pm. I have yet to take a class here (but can’t wait to!), so this review is for the wide array of materials for aspiring home mosaicists, the lovely gift shop showcasing local artists’ goods, and the incredible kindness and generosity of the owner, Katie. I had endeavored to do a diy mosaic (a la Pinterest) on my wall, but was dismayed by the monochrome tile offerings at the local hardware and big box stores. I found Copper Cat Studio online and called to inquire about their tile selection.
