If Dr. Gaspar has diagnosed your child through an early intervention facility, don't count on the follow-up HE REQUESTS at his office at Ackerman Center. He informed me at the diagnosis apt that he would want a follow-up before my child's 3rd birthday at his office, not through the early intervention office again. I've been trying for weeks to get on a waiting list with Ackerman, and they are saying they won't see my child without a referral from a pediatrician. Haven’t even stepped foot into this place and already have a bad thing to say. Just read the review and I am in the same situation as everyone else. “ We didn’t get your sons referral”. When my son’s pediatrician called me days later to say they confirmed that it was sent. I called Ackermans office and they told me to wait 3-5 business days. I waited more than that. Called and the referral coordinator started catching an attitude. Let me also mention how nice and understanding I was being as I also am a patient coordinator and I am exceptional at it. They never call patients to give updates about the waiting list. At first that waiting list was 6 months to a year. I've been waiting for 15 months now. When you call it's almost impossible to contact them. And they never have a concrete answer to give you. Haven't even seen my son at this place and definitely won't be recommending it to anyone.

From Grant a Gift Autism Foundation Ackerman Center

The mission of Grant a Gift Autism Foundation (GGAF) is to help children, young adults and their families master autism by providing assessment and treatment funding; combined with support services, vocational training and transition planning. We provide family-centered care through one or more of our programs and services, and help prepare individuals with autism to live as independent adults with functioning roles in our community. We act as a community safety net by filling in treatment and funding gaps not covered by state and federal resources or insurance. Our organization achieves this by collaborating with other organizations, state agencies, or providers to give children with Autism Spectrum Disorder a better quality of life.
