“Having suffered head trauma in childhood, dentist visits and other face/head related exams often trigger PTSD symptoms. Because such visits are usually awkward and uncomfortable, I try to avoid going to the eye doctor and dentist to the best of my ability. However, for the past 2 months, I've been experiencing severe pain on the left side of my face which led me to go to Dr. DeCicco for the first time for a dental exam. Her compassion, confidence, expertise, patience, professionalism, and gentle touch helped me feel relaxed and safe. She received my anxiety with the utmost respect and treated me with dignity and great care. She and her staff are very polite and warm and are genuinely invested in making their patience have a positive experience. They answered all my questions and explained everything to me step by step to help put me at ease. Their encouragement and moral support helped restore my courage. Also, they provided me headphones that played relaxing music, a pillow for my neck, and sunglasses for the glare from the examination lamp above. The next day, I received a follow up call from Dr. DeCicco herself to check on how I was feeling! I'm so thankful I found such a highly skilled and trustworthy dentist and only wish there were more doctors of her caliber around!“
