Nereid Boat Club is a welcoming place for rowing enthusiasts, offering excellent coaching and support. My daughter joined the club in 2023 and was rowing for the first time. They were very helpful in guiding her and identifying the right level for her. The coaches are great and they strive for excellence. My daughter loves it and we will highly recommend.

When I first move to Rutherford I notice a big house located on bank of the Passaic River with lots of racing shell boats around it and my neighbors called it Boat House or the Rutherford Boat House. Later I learned it was run by the Nereid Boat Club and is it was a place where you can learn and participate in rowing on the river. They offers 3 month membership which includes lessons on rowing first on machines and then also right there on the river but you need to be a good swimmer and also volunteer your time of 6 hours annually besides just paying dues. They maintain a large fleet of singles, doubles, and quads rowing shell boats the kind you see in sports racing so you don't need to buy your own shell boat. You then or your group can row up and the the Passaic but the idea is to do it as body work and not just for leaure. rowing a shell boat competivlly 1000 yards is eaqul to playing a full court basketball game.
