“I had a very good experience with Dr. Tzu treating my rolling acne scars on my cheek. I'd spent a fair amount of money with another well-known derm in NYC and wasn't seeing any improvements (a lot of fraxel laser over my whole face- they felt too anti-aging in approach) which wasn't really addressing the issue that bothered me.
Online I'd seen Dr. Tzu recommend subcision as the best approach for this type of scarring because it deals with the underlying issue (the tethering that makes skin uneven) and figured I'd try this as one last shot.
Dr. Tzu was very focused on just treating my rolling acne scar and wasn't pushing any other lasers or anti-aging treatments that wouldn't really wouldn't address what bothered me, which I appreciated.
Subcision itself is very painless, you get numbed with a couple shots and at that point don't feel anything. The needle she used was also very thin. It took about 2 weeks for the bruising to be not noticeable afterwards. But the first week your face will definitely be black and blue as a head's up.
After a couple months, my skin is noticeably more even in bad lighting.
Definitely feels like money well spent, and wish I would've skipped ahead to this treatment first as I think it's the right approach for rolling acne scars that you'll actually be happy with. I'll see if I need another round of subcision in a couple months, but so far even after 1 treatment, am very happy with the results and going to Wall Street Derm.”
