Don't do your job. Well, I made an appointment to trim my dog's nails and when I have the day of the appointment, the girl across the street told me that they can't take care of him because it was only a month since his vaccine expired, I tell him why he didn't tell me. . That's when I made the appointment by phone and he told me the answer was oo, it was AN accident. I responded, it was AN accident. He didn't inform me that he couldn't trim his nails because just like that, the vaccine expired in ONE month. They actually asked me to come. Until here today to tell me that my dog's nails cannot be trimmed, what kind of service is this? Your duty was to find out for me on the phone. HE REPEATS ME AGAIN, IT WAS AN ACCIDENT. I'M ANSWERING HIM FOR THE LAST TIME. COVERING THEM AND DESIR IT WAS AN ACCIDENT NOT TO INFORM THE CUSTOMERS THINGS AS THEY ARE

If I could put 0 stars I would. Let’s start off with the fact that there is no working ultra sound machine, a basic tool that most offices have. Part of the reason I came here rather than urgent care was due to the fact that it is a lower cost alternative. However, with no ultra sound a visit would have been around $450. A visit to Hoboken Emergency vet would be $200 (starting) but includes an ultra sound that would have prevented this fate of my cats baby. At the time of visit, unbeknownst to me, my cat was pregnant. The doctor negligently sent me home with antibiotics and my cat had her baby stillborn. My cat is depressed and I wish I could’ve been told by an expert, that my cat was pregnant.

Unfortunately, as the pricing has increased (rapidly) over the years, the customer service has suffered. I used to love and trust this hospital with all of my pets but as time has gone on the quality and individualism in care has plummeted. Dr. Buchholz is probably the only vet with amazing beside manner at this hospital.

If Dr. B is working, I would recommend this place but my last encounter with this office left a really bad taste in my mouth. My dog wound up at the emergency animal hospital where I found out he has a very large heart murmur where his heart is very overgrown. The emergency doctor told me this must have been an issue for quite some time for how large the heart was and they were scared he was going into heart failure. She even let me hear his heart on the stethoscope, and it sounded like a washing machine banging around. I was shocked as I have been to JCAH office less than a month earlier and prior to that, seven months ago and have never been told anything about a heart murmur. In fact, I was being pressured into getting my dog put under to get his teeth cleaned. This is scary to me as I would not put my dog under now knowing he has such a large heart murmur. I ended up calling Jersey City animal Hospital to express my concern. Dr. Lily gave me a call and essentially told me the doctor who saw me was an “on call”, not a regular, (I was supposed to see Dr. B the last two times but he was unavailable) and she said “sometimes you can hear a heart murmur and sometimes you can’t. I don’t know what YOU want to do with this information.“ I was so taken aback by this comment I said “excuse me?” And she repeated it, as if I was inconveniencing her. I find her comment incredibly insensitive and rude. I rather drive 45minutes and pay $15 in tolls to Oradell Animal hospital for more competent and compassionate care if Dr. B is not available. It’s a shame bc the staff have always been friendly, vet techs compassionate, and Dr. B great but Dr. Lily needs some SEL training.

I don’t usually care enough to write reviews, but this situation was truly jaw dropping. I recently got a new puppy and wanted to get him a check up and also check on his stool because he was bleeding the first few days I got him and I was obviously concerned. I’m a first time puppy owner and wasn’t educated on the exact vaccines mine needed before being able to go outside, all I had was a record of what he had gotten already from the previous breeder.
When I went into the room, I was asked by the technician (very sweet, Enrique. M) to send over his records. The doctor, Eric Ledesma, blew up the records, clearly able to read what my puppy had received, and proceeded to explain to me that my puppy was not up to date on his parvo vaccinations. Explaining that he only got his first dose at 4 weeks old and never received either of the boosters, so as a result I would have to make a follow up appointment so he can get his 2nd dose and then another for his 3rd. He told me that “he hopes my puppy doesn’t have parvo” seeing as how he was “extremely late” on his vaccinations. I told him he was a very energetic puppy, no fever, great appetite, no vomiting, yet he still insisted I get my puppy tested.
He also explained to me that he had received his rabies vaccine too early (4 days early) and that he would also have to get that again as well (even after he explained to me that this might be the cause of the blood in his stool). When I asked the doctor if it was safe for my 11 week and 5 day old puppy to get ANOTHER rabies shot after just receiving one. He proceeds to explain that in the state of NJ it’s the law to have it done after 12 weeks. However, that wasn’t what I asked. I wanted to know if that was SAFE for my puppy and he just didn’t have any clear answer.
He comes back in the room with an invoice of about $650. He had a parvo test, antibiotics, probiotics, deworming medication, so many things. I ended up knocking the bill all the way down to $212 because I couldn’t understand why a 2 month old puppy would need all that stuff.
COME TO FIND OUT A FEW DAYS LATER, and speaking to other vets because I wanted a second opinion, that my puppy did not need another rabies vaccine because 4 days doesn’t make a big difference and I’m not traveling with my puppy, I don’t care about the legality of it. But ALSO, HE DID INFACT HAVE HIS SECOND PARVO VACCINE DONE AT 7 WEEKS OLD. You mean to tell me this vet, after blowing up the records, couldn’t see he was up to date????? Scaring me and telling me “I hope he doesn’t have parvo” and also quoting me $650, then wanting me to bring him back for his 2nd booster WHEN HE HAD IT ALREADY!! DR. LEDESMA SHAME ON YOU. Either he doesn’t know how to read and do his job properly or these people are money hungry. I will never again bring my baby here. People come to you for help. It’s truly disgusting and a shame. Thank god I did my research and got a second opinion, otherwise my puppy could’ve ended up dead.
