“We bought a "fixer upper" at the start of the year knowing that it needed a new roof. With winter looming, we didn't want to take a chance with the old, worn out roof atop the home. Additionally, the insurance company required chimney repairs soon, or else they wouldn't renew the policy! So we did our due diligence and called 3 different roofers. One came out and gave a fancy quote: they had a nice computer system that made it look very "official." They also gave a price that seemed suspiciously low, and it didn't include chimney work because... they didn't do any masonry. Next, we placed a call to a second roofing company. This time they hand wrote their estimate. The price was a lot higher than the first company, even after the salesman called back a few days later and offered $500 off as a "special." Their warranty was also the shortest, and they said the job could take up to 5 days to complete. For a 1000 square foot home? That's crazy. Finally, I (actually my lovely fiancée Nikki) called Central Contractors. She spoke with Ursula, who was quite friendly as she gathered the necessary information. It turns out her husband Reiman is the roofing expert, while she handles the office-side of the business. Anyway, Reiman came out to the house and I just had a good feeling from the guy. He's very amiable and genuine, he does not exude the fake "salesman" vibe that other contractors can give off. Reiman got up on the roof himself, and he showed us photos and video of its current condition after he made it safely back to earth. He spent plenty of time speaking with us about the work we needed to do and what the budget was. Not to mention other things like family and food! Ursula emailed us a quote that same evening and it wasn't a hard decision to choose Central Contractors for the job. For a little project detail: our house is tricky- it was constructed in the 1850's and has several roofs, 4 in total! A flat section in front, a pitched roof in the middle, and a larger flat roof in the back with a portico over the back door. It's also a twin/townhome/duplex where the roof connects with the neighbor. In this case our neighbor wanted to wait until spring to do her side. Central Contractors handled our job like true professionals. The team showed up early and quickly got to tearing off the old roof. As it turned out, there were FOUR layers of the old roof in certain sections! Also, some of the wood decking needed replacing after years of "deferred maintenance" from the previous owner. Finally, one chimney was in worse shape than we thought. While these issues obviously added to the cost, Reiman was clear about this possibility in his initial consultation and it wasn't a surprise. The contract also outlined the various lumber options and pricing. We came to an agreement on how to proceed with the materials and method that fit the budget, and the project was essentially completed in one day! The second day was merely some finishing touches and site clean up (including a magnet) to ensure no loose nails or debris. All told it was 4 sections of roof, all new masonry around one chimney, more minor repairs to another chimney, and they even put new shingles on my shed! The shingles used were GAF Timberline HDZ (quality brand) with a nice warranty on the product and on the labor as well. The roof looks awesome and it's already withstood a rain storm! On that note: we all have enough "storms" in life these days, lord knows I'm certainly going through several of them right now. I cannot put a price on the peace of mind that Reiman and Central Contractors has provided my family and would recommend them to anyone. We appreciate their quality work and look forward to making many happy memories under our new roof!“

“We had a main water line leaking in between our poured foundation wall and a sump pump pipe that was fractured by a communications line that was pumping water directly into the water shut off stand pipe area by the street. Joe at 1st Rate General Construction teamed up with their crew and the crew from Blue Boxer Plumbing dove right into the problems and after running into closely installed gas, electric, sump pump and communications lines along with some foul weather, both 1st Rate and Blue Boxer did an amazing job getting us back up and running not to mention giving our sump pump a well needed break.
