Cannot overstate how great my experience was, wow. Highlights include: -Beautiful, peaceful, plant-filled private studio -Adorable mascot (Sarah's dog) who greeted me and celebrated with us when I saw the finished cut -A very thoughtful, intentional chat with Sarah about my hair goals at the start of the appointment -Great products (and the one I have can be refilled at the studio, zero waste goals) -Lovely chill vibes during the appointment (as someone who can get a lil anxious at salons, this meant so much to me) -Gratuity free pricing to take out the ambiguity around cost -The cutest freaking low maintenance cut that I wasn't sure I could pull off but Sarah literally killed it (see photo that I stole from their ig story lol)

I cannot recommend this hair studio enough. I had an amazing haircut (curly/wavy hair). The entire experience was very comfortable and relaxed- I've never enjoyed a hair cut as much as this one. Something else that made this so great was the time spent talking about my hair pre cut I think really made a difference. I'll be back for sure.

**It takes me 1.5hrs to get there and it is WORTH IT
As a non-binary, queer person who heavily relies on their hair for their gender representation, hair is both very important and stressful for me. Hair cutting experiences have always been hit or miss, heavy on the miss, for me. I have tried barbers and hair stylists who specialize in curly hair. For years I thought my hair was as good as it could get. Then I stepped into Origins yesterday..
I had the most gender affirming hair cutting experience of my life. For anyone who struggles with gender dysphoria, being in the chair itself can feel dysphoric. Sarah did many things throughout the hair cut and wash to make me feel comfortable. For example, they immediately offered to turn the chair away from the mirror so that instead of having to see myself in the chair, I got to look at the gorgeous view that is the Origins Hair Studio itself. The big windows and plants definitely helped with the overall zen experience.
Another thing I want to make note of is that any time I have had a haircut for the past 8 years, not once has a hair stylist washed and dried my hair. If I ever asked, they would wash and make me leave without drying it because “they didn’t want to mess with the curls.” Sarah took the time to detox my hair, dry AND diffuse it. Sarah also helped me decide which holistic products would work best with my fine curls and showed me how to use them.
I think it’s super rare to have a positive curly hair cut AND gender affirming experience, which is a tough feat, but Sarah did it perfectly!
I could go on and on but the photos speak for themselves!!
Requested style: Sarah and I talked about how I was looking for something shaggy/messy and ultimately ended up going with a shaggy, curly mullet (I think)!

First time going to this salon and they did an amazing job. I’ve had a hard time finding good stylists in the past and I’m glad the search is over. Having the sweet dog Wild there is also a bonus. ❤️

Sarah is the person to go to if you want a haircut that reflects your personality! They are attentive and relatable, and they have an eye for style that is unmatched in the Valley! Their salon is homey, chic, and intimate, and Sarah does an excellent job making you feel comfortable and confident as you sit in their chair—two must-haves when it comes to styling your hair! I can’t recommend them enough. ?

Sarah did hair and makeup for myself and 6 others for my wedding. It feels like an understatement to say that she did an incredible job. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day thanks to Sarah. She is so kind and makes you feel so comfortable and warm. All of my bridesmaids said they had never worked with a hair and makeup artist that did as good of a job that Sarah did. Her products also make you feel SO GOOD. She enhanced my naturally curly hair in a way I never thought possible. I am so thankful that I had Sarah on my team for my wedding, she is hands down the best. I highly, highly recommend her for all of your hair needs.
