If there was a way to give minus stars that would be my choice. I hired Marathon Moving to move instate roughly 135 miles. This was a large move and I paid approx $8,830. They were recommended by my realtor. Not only did they damage and destroy so many precious belongings but someone in their crew stole all of my late mothers and my grandmothers jewelry. That's not all they stole but oh my goodness that really hurts. I came to NC to care for my elderly parents and once they passed I had to sell the property because I am too old to care for six acres of property and no longer have my husband, it's just me who was handling everything from the sale of the property and the move. What these people did is unconscionable. The owner led me to believe he would take care of the responsibility and even put in writing that he would get my belongings back since he knew who he suspected and fired him because there was another client who also had items stolen in their move and the same guy was on both jobs. But as soon as I finished my spreadsheet and sent it to Tyler (the owner) that's when his tune changed saying things like "it's up to the insurance company now" and getting quite rude. Of course his insurance company now says these things aren't covered even though I elected and paid the higher price for full coverage. Now I'll be forced to take him to court. I've moved many times in my 65 years and used moving companies each time but by far this was the worst and most costly experience Ive ever had. If you value your property do NOT use Marathon Moving Co. anyone in my opinion would be better.

Great moving company that handled our daughter’s out of state move. The owner, Tyler was wonderful to work with! The movers were amazing as well! They were on time, polite, and diligent in protecting our belongings. They made our move as stress free as possible! Thank you!

As a real estate broker, making a local move, I was thrilled to use the company I have recommended in the past. The owner was very professional came to our house and gave a quote within 24 hours. They brought a team of great guys who worked efficiently, didn't try to go slow and they were super friendly and respectful. Nothing was broken and extra precautions were put into place to ensure that walls and floors were not marred. I highly recommend Randell and this company.

My husband and I had purchased a 450lb item for our home. My son and him attempted to bring it up 2 steps and into the home but were not successful. We needed professionals.I called several places, one moving place recommended Marathon Moving Company for our needs. From the start the customer service was EXCELLENT.I was impressed that I was given a appt time 9:30am vs a time frame. This allowed me to plan other activities for afternoon.Staff that arrived were prompt, courteous, excellent communication as then managed a large size item into our home.I recommend that if you need anything heavy moved into your home, call this company. I guarantee it is worth every penny!Thank you Marathon Movers for all your support and services.Tricia Robinson

Great Movers! Far exceeded expectations!I’ve waited to write this review because I wanted things to first stabilize a little after the move so I could be sure to be accurate. We still have a large number of boxes to unpack, but our feelings about Marathon haven’t changed as we've unpacked and put away – they do a great job.As we were planning to move for late summer 2023, I asked our realtor if she had suggestions about movers to handle our move to Kernersville from the southern Piedmont (almost 100 miles). She gave us two names in the Triad and suggested that we contact another mover in the southern Piedmont. I did, and then did my comparisons. Now, I realize that in the end, the weight of the goods should come out about the same regardless of the mover that we chose. What really makes the difference is the cost per hundredweight, any fuel cost involved and most importantly, how the company is going to handle your goods. I read reviews to see what other people had said, but it came down to whether or not I trusted the company. My first contact with Marathon came when I contacted the estimator, Stephen. He performed the estimate using cameras on phones! I was a little uncomfortable with that approach, but in the end, his weight estimate was in line with the other companies (one of which used the same process). What set Marathon apart from the other companies was the number of people they were sending to do the loading (we did our own packing), how many trucks and what size trucks that they were going to send, and how long the entire process was going to take. They were going to come one morning, load all day, drive to the Triad and park the trucks in their secure parking. Then next morning they were going to arrive in Kernersville for unloading. They brought a number of workers that allowed for timely loading and unloading. It’s IMPORTANT to note that everyone involved was cordial to us and actually seemed to enjoy their job. I found out that all the workers were permanent Marathon workers, not temps brought in who didn’t have any “skin in the game”.Now that we’re mostly unpacked and all our furniture is placed, how did they do? First of all, I’ll say that much of our furniture is over 40 years old, and we bought quality furniture that we wanted people to take care of. No issues with the furniture at all! I think we’ve come across two glasses that were broken – one was a piece of crystal and the other a drinking glass. Both were wrapped and in U-Haul glass boxes which showed no damage by the movers. I think that THAT’S an admirable result!I don’t think that Google will allow any review more than 5 stars or I would give it. I HAVE recommended Marathon to any others who have shared a hint of moving. They’re a great company, and my wife and I wholeheartedly recommend them.

Don't even think about using these clowns if you value your furnishings. We, regretfully, used them for a recent move across town. They showed up 2 hours late and didn't finish until 9pm. They did no packing or unpacking, thankfully we didn't hire them for those tasks. They left us with damage to every piece of furniture they touched. Scratches, gouges, furniture doors that were jammed shut and wouldn't close after being opened, missing assembly hardware. They were supposed to provide an inventory of boxes they moved. Not only was the inventory not provided, they couldn't provide a simple count of the number of boxes they moved. Property we packed and boxed disappeared. Customer service after the move was the worst. Calls and text messages were rarely answered. Attempts to have damages repaired were stonewalled. They did eventually send someone to re-assemble an entertainment center that was incorrectly re-assembled and they lost most of the hardware needed to do so. Scratches and gouges were never repaired. Damage they caused will cost thousands of dollars to fix. Absolutely the worst!

I have used Tyler and his team for my corporate relocations and they are just absolutely phenomenal. They take the time and care to assemble and put all the furniture in place. The Marathon team showed that they are very experienced following the furniture floor plans and keeping the project on time and within budget. Overall this is the best team I have used so far in the RTP NC area. They continue to offer me high quality service at a reasonable price. So I would continue to use and recommend them for any moves commercial or residential.

Marathon is one of my top referral sources for our prospective residents at Abbotswood Irving Park. When a new resident is preparing for a new chapter in their life I never hesitate to refer them to Marathon. They are perfect for small or big moves. Downsizing is very overwhelming for our seniors, but Marathon helps alleviate the stress and provides quality worry-free service. I have also personally used Marathon on multiple occasions and they are always responsive and professional!

The team was professional, polite and detailed. They made sure all of my items were packed safely for my move. The whole experience of moving was made easier. I am extremely happy with my experience and would absolutely use them again! Thank you!

We've used this company in the past (2021) and had an excellent experience at that time. However, today was not the best experience. They have great ratings so I'm going to be fair and say this crew may have been having an "off" day... even though we were an early morning customer. Here's the story... moving 4 pieces of furniture from my house approximately 4 miles away. The crew showed up very punctual. They had very polite demeanors from beginning to end. It was a lead with 2 years experience with the company and a trainee with only a week with the company. Really wished they had sent two experienced crew members. I don't really like being the guinea pig for trainees. It never goes well in my experience and today was not lost on that opinion. They had little trouble moving the pieces out of my house. It was when we got to our destination that there was issue. First off, the trainee dropped the first item (wardrobe) going into the house and broke it on the bottom. Thankful he didn't damage the house, too. This was not a monster wardrobe either. Marathon moved one twice this size in 2021with ease. Not today, though. Furniture I've taken great care of for 20 years... broken. Aaugh! Then, getting it down the hallway and one turn into the room, they had trouble. Furniture doesn't slide well on carpet so furniture sliders help a lot! They had none. I went back home and got mine for them to use but they did not use them. Insisted on trying to carry it in once they figured out how to get it in the door of the bedroom. Furniture sliders would have made it a breeze because they could have easily turned it right in. This company needs to look into using furniture sliders because not everything can be carried and is an issue when it will not slide on carpet. The lead member was able to repair my wardrobe so I was thankful for that. At least I hope it is fixed... time will tell, right?!? The other few pieces were no issue. The amount of time it took for 4 pieces (5 if you want to count the headboard and footboard as separate) should not have taken as long as it did in my humble opinion... and should have been about $100 less in cost... Marathon is kind of pricey. There was frustration on our end for sure. I get the lead had an inexperienced trainee. However, there were a few things even the lead associate did that were head scratchers for me. Like, picking up a bed rail and hitting another piece of furniture in the process. You've got to pay attention when dealing with people's things. I would have gotten a group of friends to move it for a large pizza if I weren't wanting excellence. And not coming up with a game plan for each item, that is never good. The guy in 2021 was excellent. He could just look at the furniture, look at the area, and know exactly how he was going to tackle it. This crew seemed to just be trying anything whether it made the most sense or not. Also, the lead promised me we would not be charged for going over the minimum time (not our fault) yet they tried to do just that when I was paying my balance at the end. He had to call the main office and even told the manager on the phone, "Yep, finishing up on time here." However, their system was still trying to charge me extra. Had I not been paying close attention I would have overpaid. That disappointed me. Felt nickel-dimey after having damage. Also, they charge 3% if you usr a credit card. The deposit did not charge 3% but when I paid the balance after service, they stated there would be a 3% fee. This was never verbally disclosed up front but hidden in the fine print. Another example of the nickel-dimey thing. It just wasn't the best experience and concerns me because we were planning to use this company when we move into our new home. I'm not saying I won't give them another chance but if we use them again I'll be insisting for more experienced employees next time. I need to feel confident that a crew has precision, a good strategy, cares about my property, and not tryin
