“Best vet I've ever had. My 10 year old dog, Ziggy, had a bacterial infection on his leg for 5 months. He saw 3 other vets and was given tons of antibiotics and other meds to treat it (of course with side effects). I spent thousands on this issue with the other vets. In exasperation I drove from Asheville to Hendersonville to Dr. Howland. Dr. Howland asked if he could look at the bacteria under the microscope so we could treat the exact kind (what??why didn't the others do that?). He gave Ziggy a cream to treat it and it was gone in 2 weeks. The bill was $170. I literally was jaw dropped in the difference in care, price and customer service (the gals at the front desk are awesome too). Most vets have been bought out by private equity and run from corporate now - ie, have to give an expensive, elaborate "treatment plan" and charge at least $500 per visit but White Oak is a gem that still runs by knowledgeable skilled doctors and excellent staff.“

“After trying out a class at Asheville Humane (nice people but way too crowded and chaotic) and meeting with another facility (way too expensive), I am so happy I found Ruff Life! After losing my sweet, very chill 14 y.o. soul mate doggie a little over a year ago, I adopted Harper, a not as chill, but just as sweet Husky mix puppy. I was not quite prepared for the energy and challenges of a high energy, young pup, but after taking the basic Ruff Starters class with Tessa, we are on our way to a happy, peaceful life together. Other than learning basic commands, I came out of the classes feeling like I understand the dog mind much better, so when puppy antics ensue, I have the tools I need to make sure Harper and I understand each other. I loved Tessa's laid back teaching style and that the class size was small (about 6 pups). It wasn't the end of the world if Harper wasn't grasping everything right away or acting out, so I didn't feel judged for my crazy little gremlin not being quite perfect yet. Once Harper is a little older, I plan on taking another class or two. For now, I am continuing to work on the basics and each day gets better and better, thanks to Tessa and her team. “Romeo's Doghouse is owned by a wonderful lady who truly cares about the safety and well being of my little guy. Very clean facility and the dogs that are put entrusted to her care are obviously very well taken care of. She also has gone above and beyond what was expected of her when my little guy developed a sudden health issue. I cannot recommend this business enough. I will never use another kennel. Thank you!“

“Absolutely love Mills River Dog Camp! My little Penny ( less than 20 lbs) actually wags her tail the whole time we are checking in. She’s anticipating all the fun she will have I guess! Staff is very responsive and caring. When going somewhere new you always worry about your fur baby, but I don’t worry anymore, her expressions toward staff and being there speaks for itself. It’s her vacation when we take a vacation!“

“I absolutely LOVE this place! I have an almost 13 year old shih tzu that is a rescue. He is going blind, has arthritis in both back hips and anxiety. I was so nervous to drop him off only bc I didn’t know how he would handle it. Marco stayed 2 nights and he did wonderfully! The staff was so supportive, and I was able to call and check up on him! We will definitely be back!! I would give more than 5 stars if I could! Marco seemed so happy when I picked him up! Not stressed at all. Thank you guys so much for taking on all kinds of dogs! “Had been there in the past with a great experience. Had found a closer daycare to where I live which got flooded out in Hurricane Helene. Grateful A Dog Day Out could accept my dog who is young and needs the socialization with other dogs. Found the facilities clean indoor and out. Staff are friendly, knowledegeable, and kind. Feel lucky to be there. They can also bathe dog and trim nails but no cutting hair yet.“
