Margaux is the best! No matter how simple/boring of a cut I request, it looks 100x better after she finishes it. She always does exactly what I want but makes it look better than I could've imagined. Also the way she puts your hair in a towel bun after washing looks SO good, Margaux if you're reading this I know you know what I mean 😁 it's just a great experience, the staff is all very nice and payment is convenient. Nobody ever pressures you to book the next appointment or upsells products unless you ask, and I do occasionally buy the purple detangling spray here too (Kevin Murphey). Plus it's next to Cloche. I no longer live in Durham, but when I visit for work and it aligns with a need for a cut, Union is my first stop! Friendly, accommodating, and always a good cut. Never disappointed.
I've been going to Yumi for 9 years I think? and it's perfect every time. It's so nice to walk into the salon with no stress and just let her take the lead with what she thinks I need for both cut and color. I just lay back, oftentimes what real housewives on my phone and enjoy 2.5 hours of relaxation without my children. She is hard to get in with but I think that speaks volumes to her skill set and how much her current clients love her. I feel like one of the girls when I'm there and really looking forward to my appointments. If you are a new client and bummed she is booking out 3-4 months I promise you she is SO worth the wait!
