I’ve been super impressed by the helpfulness, professionalism, kindness and compassion of everyone who works at The Medical Massage Clinic of Durham throughout my various interactions with them. My MD referred me there for lymphatic drainage, and Kelly Bowers has been my therapist for about 6 months now. She has been an excellent addition to my care team. She’s had extensive education/training in a variety of massage techniques, and applies these in a fabulous combination of evidence based practice along with a focus on individual needs. She has wonderful communication skills, and always ensures I am comfortable and understand the treatment. Each time I see her, I feel like Kelly always does a good assessment and offers me what she see as the best intervention on that day. However she always defers if I prefer something different. For example, the other day I arrived for my appointment with an ongoing horrible migraine and she (quite appropriately) suggested that we might try massage for my headache, as it seemed my “worst” problem. It was a miraculous experience. After the massage I had 9.5 hours completely pain free! The first pain free time I had experienced in over 30 days. I continue to have reduced pain. Kelly took the time to be sure the environment wasn’t overstimulating, I was ok temperature wise, and then to patiently and gently work on my head, neck, and shoulders. The care she always takes (but especially this day when I was so fragile), is truly special. I wholeheartedly recommend Kelly and The Medical Massage Clinic of Durham
I have seen Rebecca for many injuries sustained over many years. She has been a lifesaver! I can move better and feel relief from chronic tightness after a massage session with Rebecca Manitsas. She is VERY selective about the massage therapists who work at the clinic. I have seen one other there and found her to be of the same high caliber that Rebecca holds herself to. I cannot say how much I appreciate their work!
What impresses me the most about deep tissue massage with Tonya is that she knows when to go deeper and she knows when NOT to go deeper. It's a gift and a lot of massage therapists don't have it.
