Doing the MBCY Yoga Teacher Training in 2016 was the most profound and life changing experience I've had. It is truly not of this world. Every day I am thankful I was able to do it and that I am still plugged into such a powerful, living body of wisdom, magic and nourishment. It totally transformed my idea of yoga as a lifestyle and helped me to fully embrace myself and others. I believe that MBCY can help anyone find peace and purpose.
MindBody Centering Yoga has changed my life! It is unlike other yoga classes in a way that is accessible & inclusive, as well as calming & centering (even if the practice is geared to generate heat in the body). I chose to complete the 200hr teacher training in the summer of 2018 & am nearing the completion of the 300hr training. nina be & MBCY have taught me as much about living yoga in my daily life as it has about asana & I couldn't be more grateful. The benefits are too many to count! I recommend their weekly classes to all levels of practice & highly encourage the teacher / life training!
Global Breath is so much more than just a place to practice yoga; it is truly a home. When I moved to Durham, I knew I needed to find a new yoga studio to practice in. I tried a few and quickly fell in love with Global Breath. The space is incredibly welcoming in amenities (with a community kitchen, tea, extra hairties, tampons, clothes, yoga mats, etc.), as well as in spirit and community. No matter the teacher and what is going on in their personal lives, they act with open and loving hearts to all who walk into the space. It is such a calming atmosphere. In addition to a robust schedule of yoga classes, there are a lot of community-building events that they hold regularly (e.g., vegan community meals, dance classes, live music, kirtan, meditation). The people at Global Breath have such big hearts for the world and everyone in it. They've partnered with many local non-profits to have fundraisers at the studio and have put together bags for yogis to give to homeless folks around Durham. The community alone is unlike anywhere else I have ever practiced and I am so grateful to be a part of it. Now, for the yoga classes! This studio provides a great mix of classes geared towards the mind and body. There are options for those who want a very physical practice, a very mental practice, or something in-between. Before finding Global Breath, I had struggled with experiencing yoga studios that only seemed to offer one or the other. I really appreciate the wide variety of classes that I can take part in at Global Breath depending on what my mind/body needs on a given day. Some classes also incorporate live music, which is such a beautiful addition to any practice. I always leave Global Breath feeling better, more grounded in myself, and with the world around me. I know this is an insanely long review, but I want to make sure that others have the opportunity to reap the benefits of this incredible space and the people within it that make every day a wonderful day.
