The Duke Cancer Center in Durham, NC is a state-of-the-art patient care facility that consolidates in one convenient location almost all of the outpatient clinical care services as well as a host of amenities including a cafe, resource center, retail pharmacy and outdoor garden. Patients report exceptional care from the entire staff, from the moment they walk in until they walk out. The Melanoma staff is praised as amazing, with a doctor who has the best bedside manner, truly cares, and knows what he is doing. Many patients are grateful to have been worked on by such professionals. One patient transferred to Duke after another facility gave up on a husband, and the staff was willing to help him fight. The valet staff, pharmacy staff, and security are also praised. However, one patient noted a negative interaction with a male front desk staff member regarding mask requirements for a toddler under two, pointing out that per CDC guidelines, a face mask is not recommended due to suffocation risk. Despite this issue, the overall sentiment is one of gratitude and recommendation for the amazing staff.

My husband’s team at Duke Cancer Center- Brain and Spine Metastasis department are exactly what we were looking for with his diagnosis. My mother and I went to Duke yesterday 05/26/26 to get a second opinion on a health issue my mother is facing and we are from Wilmington NC. Our experience there was absolutely amazing! Every staff member we interacted with made myself and my mother feel like we had known them forever. They gave my mother the absolute best care and helped her understand that what she is going through and the feelings she has a normal! Mrs.Fitch was our MD and she had fantastic bedside manner! I can't say nothing but good things about the Melanoma staff. Dr. Lee is amazing and he has the best bedside manner, he made sure I felt like he was going to do all he could to get all the cancer from me and he did. He truly cares and knows what he is doing I wouldn't want to go anywhere else
