This was my first visit to Amaka's and I had a 10am appointment this morning with Quavis. I arrived at 9:50am to be greeted by no one at the front desk. I could hear a man in the back talking on the phone and I first thought that was my stylist, so I said "hello...hello" but no response. He continues to talk on the phone. So, I looked around the lobby for a minute and then took a seat. I called Quavis at 9:55 to let him know I was at the salon. He said he was on his way and was running late. Love my hair stylist!!!! Not the conditions as much. The hot water has gone out several times and we've had to wait about 20 mins for (I guess) it to refill or reheat OR I had to be rinsed in water. I'll follow my hairdresser (almost) anywhere and would love where she is to be upkept to the quality of my services rendered.

I called and scheduled an appointment with Candy for my daughter to get her hair braided. I texted her a picture and she told me that it would be $180 dollars. I bring her in and she charges me $200 because she said her hair was long. The only reason I allowed my daughter to get her hair done there because she wanted that done for her birthday. That's the second time she's done that to me. While the hairstyle was nice, that's a poor practice and I will not use her to get braid styles again. I'll drive the extra 30 minutes to get the price I was quoted originally. It's a shame because she does a great job but she shouldn't be so dishonest for an extra $20.
