During the summer of 2022, our then 16-year-old daughter, Tori, let us know that she was having difficulty breathing while running, especially during hard workouts. Her breathing was labored and shallow. She told us it felt like I was breathing through a straw.

We started to pray for Tori’s lungs to be opened so she could breathe.

We sought advice from conventional health-care professionals about immune deficiency disorders, iron deficiency, and exercise-induced asthma. Tori tried an inhaler. It didn’t work. In fact, nothing worked.

Because Tori couldn’t breathe, she cut back on her training and races were full of anxiety about whether she would be able to breathe.

On September 17, 2022, Tori reached rock-bottom at a cross country race. She finished well-back in the pack. She was very disappointed and discouraged and was thinking of quitting.

My bride was able to get Tori an appointment with Dr. Gangemi. He diagnosed Tori’s problem as a diaphragm impingement and was able to fix the cause of her not being able to breathe. Prayer answered. Tori competed in the 2022 state meet, finishing 6th.

Tori has seen highs and lows – winning states as a sophomore, not being able to breathe as a junior and almost quitting yet finishing 6th at the 2022 state meet. This past season, she finished 2nd as a senior at the state cross country meet and received an athletic scholarship to run cross country and track at Hillsdale College.

To state the obvious, none of Tori’s accomplishments would have happened without God answering our prayer and guiding us to Dr. Gangemi and his holistic health care approach to fixing the problem, not the symptoms. We are extremely grateful.“
