A very good experience taking my rescue GS to get his nails cut and a over all health check up. He had been refused treatment by two other vets in town so this was indeed a blessing. I am very grateful to WASFV.

my dog, zoey, is very shy, but she always has a great experience at west asheville family vet! she loves the staff and they love her right back. here’s zoey wearing the cone of shame after her spay, she was carried out to the car for me and we even grabbed a picture!
Update: we have been coming here for over four years and Zoey still loves it!

I've had a lot of problems the past few months. Now starting January 1st they won't let you use chewy. They want every dime they can get so now you have to pay more at their pharmacy. It's no longer about helping pets. It's about the almighty dollar

The people at WAFV care SO much about both your pet and you. From fitting my dog in at the last minute for an emergency, to being incredibly caring as my cat goes through mysterious disease symptoms, the vet staff is always there to talk through all the options, take time to explain what is going on, and not mind our never-ending questions.
Dr. Kim and Vet tech Ava are angels. They sat on the floor with us as we tried to figure out what was going on with my cat, FaceTimed my partner from Europe so he could be part of the decision-making, and took all the time we needed to talk through our options. As I broke down in tears, they were there to offer hugs and words of hope.
I trust these people whole heartedly with my pets' care, and you should too <3

DO NOT BRING YOUR PETS HERE. We have finally given up on trusting this practice after a couple of years taking our dog. Every time we came in we were met by a different doctor and/or tech, which isn't bad, but there is ZERO consistency in information being provided. Each time we were given conflicting, inconsistent, or completely different information/recommendations ranging from the type of food she should be eating, to diagnoses, to administrative mishaps on when she's due for a check-up/vaccines, and most recently, not being prescribed the correct flea/tick/heartworm medication she needs and not being given a refund for their mistake. It has been an incredibly frustrating experience working with this practice and we have lost all trust in them, not to mention hundreds of dollars. Friends have shared similar experiences and worse with this practice. We will be going elsewhere and will encourage others to do the same. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

After my third checkup here, I started to get a major sense of behind-the-scenes discombobulation and disorganization. Long story short is, no one seems to be on the same page here, and I don't have trust in this office any longer. Everyone that works here is kind, but that's not the bar to beat for veterinary care.
Got blasted with email reminders for my dog's yearly wellness checkup, so I schedule an appointment -- I show up and am told I'm 3 months too early for the checkup? Have had 3 different doctors in 3 years, and the fill-in doctor I saw at this appointment (that I was not informed would be checking my dog ahead of time, which is always a good courtesy call to make) gave me his opinion on grain kibbles which was in direct opposition to the STRONG recommendation to go grain-free by the previous doctor. We had slowly transitioned our dog to grain-free food over 2 months and spent 7 months on that diet before being told that was not a good idea??
Asked for a re-fill of heart worm/flea/tick meds and to schedule a dental cleaning, was told they would reach back out for both, and I never received a call/text/email. I call back and they say actually we need to do xyz tests/vaccines on your dog before we re-fill that. Why wasn't this done when I was there a month ago?! Or at least tell me so I don't have to schedule ANOTHER appointment?
I was so confused the entire last appointment, and just even more frustrated now.
Edit: You would think after voicing my frustration over the phone, prior to this review, that WAFV would make sure the rest of my interactions with them would be seamless. Just picked up the 3-month supply of heart guard they offered to prescribe without updated vaccines - get home and it’s 3 months of Nexguard. I call back and they say they can’t refund it, and oh by the way, Heartguard only comes in 1/6/12 month supply amounts. Don’t even bother, this is now a 1-star review. Could never have imagined how infuriatingly incompetent a VETERINARY office could be. Don’t let the beautiful mural outside fool you like it did us.

I've only had good experiences with this clinic. They are kind and accommodating, and I always leave with valuable insights into my pets health.

Always feel heard and my cats feel taken care of and loved. I transferred here from another hospital and I’m happy to call this place home.

Incredible! Stress-free visit and such caring, knowledgable staff and doctors. Great location. We are so thankful to have them take care of our pup.
